What We Need

We’re looking for a senior engineering leader to take full ownership of Yieldmo’s AI-powered search initiative end to end—from early architecture and prototyping through production launch and scale. This is a rare opportunity to have an outsized impact on the industry by shaping a first-of-its-kind search product across major publishers. The ideal candidate has a proven track record designing and building search solutions from the ground up, and is equally comfortable leading full-stack engineering teams across frontend, backend, infrastructure, and quality.

What You Can Expect In This Role

  • Own the end-to-end strategy and delivery of Yieldmo’s AI-driven search engine, launching first with a major publisher partner and scaling into a general-purpose solution across multiple publishers.
  • Set the technical vision, architecture, and operating model for the Search platform—translating ambiguous goals into a clear roadmap, milestones, and measurable outcomes.
  • Lead and scale a high-performing engineering organization across frontend, backend, infrastructure, and quality, with strong execution cadence and accountability.
  • Partner deeply with Product, Design, and stakeholders to align priorities, drive tradeoffs, and deliver impactful retrieval, ranking, and recommendation capabilities.
  • Drive measurable improvements in search quality, relevance, latency, reliability, and cost—establishing standards for observability, evaluation, testing, and operational readiness.
  • Build a culture of innovation and velocity, raising the bar for quality and execution while enabling teams to iterate quickly and ship consistently.
  • Hire and grow a high-performing team, including org design, leveling, and coaching—ensuring the right structure and talent are in place to scale delivery.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience building, scaling, and leading engineering teams
  • Experience designing and building general-purpose search or retrieval systems at scale.
  • Strong background in AI and modern search methodologies (LLMs, embeddings, vector databases, RAG, ranking/relevance systems, reinforcement learning, etc.).
  • Deep understanding of search system architecture (indexing, query processing, ranking) and how to evaluate and improve relevance in production.
  • Proven ability to lead and grow teams while remaining technically credible and able to dive deep when needed.
  • Exposure to leading AI/search organizations (OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity, xAI, Google DeepMind, etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience with Python, SQL, Docker, microservices, and LLM function/tool calling.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-moving environment.

Hiring Process

Select candidates will be invited to schedule a 30 minute screening call with a member of our Talent Acquisition team. We will discuss the Hiring Process details at that time. The hiring process typically includes, but is not limited to:

  • A 30 minute video interview with the Hiring Manager.
  • Candidates will be invited to join a remote on-site interview round, consisting of video interviews with various team members and leadership.
  • Successful candidates will subsequently be made an offer.

US Jobs: The base salary range for this role is: $225,000-$290,000 per year. The range listed is just one component of Yieldmo's total compensation package for employees. Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including experience, level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. We recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted. In these situations, the updated salary range will be communicated with you as a candidate. For all other countries, we have competitive pay bands based on market standards.
