Job Description

Position Purpose:

The EI&C Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing instrumentation, control systems, and electrical equipment at the power generation and utilities distribution facilities. This role supports safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations through inspection, calibration, testing, and installation work.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair instrumentation, control systems, and electrical equipment.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance, including inspections and calibrations.
  • Troubleshoot and service systems such as DCS, PLCs, and turbine controls.
  • Support electrical systems up to 12kV (motors, transformers, switches, wiring, and communications).
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and calibration records in compliance with regulations.
  • Monitor equipment, diagnose faults, and recommend performance improvements.
  • Assist in maintaining safe chemical handling systems and utility distribution.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) and PPE use.
  • Participate in emergency response drills and activities.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Operate plant equipment such as forklifts, trucks, manlift and bucket trucks.
  • Complete work orders and documentation in Veolia’s CMMS system.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and equipment manuals.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, following standard procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and external partners.
  • Contribute to plant reliability and cost-effective operation.

Work Environment:

  • May require extended hours, rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call duty.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in loud, hot, cold, or confined environments near high-voltage equipment.
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals and industrial noise.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Progress toward a Journeyman or Master Electrician License, or an Associate’s Degree in Electrical/Electronics is highly desirable. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 2–5 years of experience in electrical, instrumentation, or controls maintenance (power plant or industrial experience preferred).
  • Familiarity with motors, pumps, turbines, generators, boilers, cooling towers, and emissions control systems.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of AC/DC systems, schematics, P&IDs, and control logic.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols for chemicals, rotating equipment, confined spaces, and high-voltage systems.
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • Valid driver’s license required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and wear required protective equipment (PPE).
