JOB PURPOSE

The Hair Leave on & Aerosol format leader is responsible to lead a diverse team of product specialists that develops & delivers impactful technologies across several multiple product formats like combing creams, serums/oils, dry shampoo, mousse, hairspray and powders.

The role provides an excellent opportunity to set the future direction of this exciting portfolio with an ambition to create irresistible products that will drive our Superiority and Planet Positive agendas within the Hair Category.

Who You Are & What You’ll Do:

We are looking for an experienced R&D manager with the expertise, passion, strategic thinking and business acumen to deliver product innovations of the future.

This format leader will shape, drive and deliver the future of Leave on & Aerosols technologies, through value-optimized, sustainable, and superior innovations and renovations.

The role holder will define and manage the capability program and deliver it effectively in a cross-functional team environment. The position must make use of internal and external ecosystems as appropriate. The ability to manage stakeholders and collaborate effectively with business and technical teams is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Shape, drive and deliver the technology roadmaps of the Leave on & Aerosols format, in partnership with CBP and Brand Leaders, consider not only consumer / market needs but also non-negotiables like Compliance, Sustainability and Resilience.
  • Build future-proof Capabilities for the Leave on and Aerosols format, including the development of Skills and Competencies of the team members.
  • Shape & execute the measurement & testing programme for the format, to understand performance of our products & deliver superiority against our competitors.
  • Develop strong partnerships within R&D (global, cluster) and with functional business partners when required.
  • Establish good connections with the Port Sunlight ecosystem (Advanced Manufacturing Centre, Materials Innovation Factory, S&T) and also with externals (suppliers, universities), in order to properly support and growth the format programme.
  • Lead by example and hold teams accountable for safe working practices at the laboratory, proactively maintaining safety standards and norms.

ALL ABOUT YOU

Key skills required for the role:

  • Academic degree in a Science or Engineering Field
  • Fully operational of the main science themes and the chemistry of product formulations and technologies, ideally experienced in Hair category.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with internal and external partners (suppliers, universities).
  • Good knowledge/understanding of a wide range of methodologies for assessing intrinsic product/substrate condition, and delivery of product benefits (e.g. softness, friction, etc
  • Strong leadership skills, with ability to inspire and manage people and teams.
  • Highly-motivated with resourceful problem solving skills/practical creativity
