Job Title: AI Strategy Lead

JOB PURPOSE

The AI strategy lead is a key role in the technology department, who will work closely with the enterprise architecture team, the D&A AI strategy leads, the business stakeholders, and the strategic technology vendors to understand the current and future state of the organization's IT landscape and identify where AI can have a transformational impact. The AI strategy lead will also evaluate the AI capabilities and roadmaps of the vendors and advise on the best course of action regarding integration, build, buy and deploy of AI solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the organization's enterprise architecture and business processes to identify the pain points, gaps, and opportunities for AI intervention.
  • Develop a strategic vision and roadmap for AI adoption and implementation across the organization, aligned with the business objectives and the technology strategy.
  • Collaborate with the enterprise architecture team to ensure that the AI solutions are compatible, scalable, secure, and compliant with the IT standards and policies.
  • Engage with the strategic technology vendors to understand their AI offerings, roadmaps, and best practices, and provide feedback and input on their AI strategy and direction.
  • Recommend the optimal approach for sourcing, developing, integrating, and deploying AI solutions, considering the trade-offs between build, buy, and partner options.

Secondary responsibilities:

  • Manage the AI Innovation project portfolio, prioritizing the initiatives based on the business value, feasibility, and readiness.
  • Advise on AI project delivery, ensuring that the solutions meet the requirements, quality, and expectations of the stakeholders.
  • Benchmark the performance and outcomes of the AI solutions, and report on the benefits, challenges, and lessons learned.
  • Advocate and promote the AI governance framework, policies, and best practices, and ensure that the AI solutions adhere to the ethical, legal, and regulatory standards.
  • Build and maintain the AI competency and capability within the organization, by providing training, coaching, and mentoring to the staff and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.

ALL ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in IT strategy, enterprise architecture, or AI consulting.
  • Proven track record of delivering successful AI solutions in a complex organisation environment
  • Experience leading commercial discussions with technology partners in technology innovation
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the AI landscape, trends, technologies, and vendors.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to translate business needs into AI solutions.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to various audiences.
  • Highly collaborative, team-oriented, and customer-focused, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and innovative, with the ability to drive change and continuous improvement.

Location

In September 2020, Unilever announced the intention to build a new sustainable campus site in Kingston, London to house the employees who currently work in 100 Victoria Embankment in Blackfriars, Lever House in Kingston and Graze in Richmond. We are creating our own Unilever sustainable, agile work environment, purposefully bringing us together in our own Unilever ecosystem. The campus is due to be completed in early 2025 and will consist of two interconnected buildings, as well as landscaped surrounding areas.

Recruitment Fraud

Cyber criminals advertise fake job adverts with prestigious employers as a way of stealing information or even defrauding individuals out of money. In the most sophisticated cases, they will set up fake websites, which have a similar address to companies like Unilever. They even conduct fake telephone interviews and then offer candidates a role with the proviso they pay a fee for background checks or to cover work visa costs. These types of attacks are becoming more common as more people are looking for employment in the economic climate.

How is Unilever tackling this?

Many of Unilever’s recruitment sites publish a warning to candidates about recruitment fraud. The Cyber Security team also proactively scan for signs of people setting up fake Unilever sites and act to close them down.
