About the Team
Join Uber’s high-impact Business Development team, operating at the critical intersection of all Uber business lines and strategic verticals. We are seeking a Business Development Manager to elevate our Tech Partnerships program, focusing on technologies essential to Uber's long-term vision.
The ideal candidate possesses a unique blend of strategic intellectual rigor, emotional intelligence, and executive maturity. You will be instrumental in building strategy and structure amid complexity, operating with significant autonomy while maintaining strong collaboration across a broad network of internal stakeholders. Success in this role requires the ability to execute complex, long-term, and multifaceted deals that directly support Uber’s core business requirements. Your partnership strategy and execution will consistently earn the support of senior executives and cross-functional leaders due to its clear value proposition and alignment with business objectives.
This is a highly cross-functional position. You will serve as the primary external representative of Uber to our partners, while internally collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, Legal, and Finance teams.
What You’ll Do
- Lead Strategic Deal Execution: Drive complex, multifaceted partnership negotiations with prospective partners across the focused technology areas.
- Develop Integrated Partnership Strategy: Collaborate deeply with Operations, Product, and Engineering to tailor deal strategies that maximize business impact and seamless integration.
- Build Executive Consensus: Secure timely support and build consensus for specific deal strategies and execution plans among diverse internal audiences, from senior leadership to key cross-functional stakeholders.
- Cultivate Long-Term Relationships: Define and nurture long-term, mutually beneficial executive relationships with current and prospective partners.
- Optimize Value and Practicality: Strategically balance commercial value generation over a long time horizon with practical execution requirements.
- Negotiate and Co-Draft Contracts: Work in close partnership with
- Legal counterparts to evaluate business value against legal risk, co-creating and meticulously refining legal concepts and specific contract language.
- Inform and Refine Frameworks: Leverage negotiation insights to continually inform and suggest updates to overall deal strategy and commercial frameworks, ensuring alignment with Uber’s goals, partner objectives, and evolving industry conditions.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in business, corporate development, or relevant field
Preferred Qualifications

Direct experience in strategy consulting or investment banking.
Demonstrated technical fluency and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and product teams to ensure seamless partnership integration.
Proven experience in structuring complex partnerships, defining business models, and drafting commercial term sheets.
- Strong analytical capability, adept at combining business, strategy, finance, and legal concepts to lead intricate, multi-faceted deals.
- Exceptional attention to detail, with direct experience effectively co-drafting specific contract language with Legal counterparts.
- Ability to successfully manage high-leverage cross-functional coordination with numerous roles and stakeholders across the company.
- Outstanding communication skills, essential for effective engagement within your team, with leadership, and with external partners.
- Highly effective interpersonal skills to build trust, navigate intense negotiations to secure Uber’s interests, and expertly lead the necessary cross-functional alignment (Product, Operations,
- Engineering, Finance, Legal) required for deal implementation.
- A high standard of performance and a proactive bias toward action. You are resourceful in gathering necessary context and information through organizational relationships, you champion clarity and delivery, and you hold both your own contributions and those of your collaborators to an exceptionally high standard.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$169,000 per year - USD$188,000 per year.
You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan.
