About The Role
Uber is looking to add a US State and Local Tax Manager in our US direct tax team. This role will lead the US state and local tax strategies of Uber’s rapidly expanding business. This position offers an opportunity to join a talented and diversified tax team and make an immediate impact.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $144,000 per year - $160,000 per year.
For Washington, DC-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $144,000 per year - $160,000 per year.

About The Role

What You'll Do
- Analyze the SALT profile of the company and partner with various internal tax stakeholders to develop and implement tax strategies.
- Provide US SALT guidance on tax technical issues and advise the business on the SALT implications
- Working with the Tax Controversy team to assist in resolving state tax audits and inquiries, including tax notices, when required.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant state and local tax laws and that tax returns and payments are processed timely and in the correct manner.
- Strategize process improvements, automation and collaboration with COE teams in India to drive efficiency.
- Oversee the US SALT calculation for quarterly tax provision purposes
- Collaborate with key cross-functional partners and leaders in Accounting, Finance, Legal and many other internal teams.
- Manage the overall execution of internal controls and SOX compliance for the SALT functions and communicate with external auditors.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in public accounting firms and/or multinational companies
- Excellent tax research and organization skills
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate cross-functionally with both tax and non-tax professionals
- Ability to develop and sustain relationships internally and cross-functionally
- Experience in a high-growth, international environment
- Ability to coordinate work within diverse and geographically dispersed teams and to deliver through to completion
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a high-growth, fast-paced environment
