Job Description
Overview:
This position will be responsible for the troubleshooting, cleaning, repair and complete operation of fruit packaging equipment such as bagger, box former, bin wash, bin filler, bin tipper, palletizer, and fruit sizer in their designated area. It will also be expected to train and coach others in the proper troubleshooting, cleaning, repair and complete operation of the equipment.
Here's what you'll do:
- Responsible for the proper setup and safe operation of the equipment.
- Perform all necessary start-up/shutdown procedures, cleaning, and troubleshooting to assure accuracy of equipment operation.
- Maintain daily operator log book to document observations, downtime, machine adjustments, etc.
- Monitor product quality and identify when adjustments are necessary.
- Ability to perform material and product changeovers in time allotted.
- Maintain all electronics and hardware in clean and good operating conditions.
- Continuously monitor all relevant performance metrics and be able to make adjustments as needed to correct deviations and reduce/avoid downtime.
- Train and coach Machine Attendants and Operators
- Uses computer programs to reflect inventory and print variety of labels.
- Hand off to the next shift, a work area that you yourself would expect from the other shift.
- Assist in the continuous improvement efforts at the facilities in Safety, People, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Sustainability
- Engagement in identifying safety and food safety hazards (for example, GMP audits, weekly Critical Behavior Observations, sanitation checks, etc.)
- Execute our company and mission goals but not losing sight of employee and food safety.
- Work closely with reliability team to identify machine and software issues or root causes and propose solutions
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Here's what you'll bring to the table:
- High school diploma or GED.
- The position requires precision and is very detail oriented.
- Must be mechanically inclined
- Speak, read, and write in the English language, bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
- Knowledge of fruit, fruit quality and grade characteristics is a plus but not required.
- Must work with fellow co-workers and promote a teamwork environment.
- Good problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills.
- Basic mathematical skills required. Must understand ratios, minimums and maximums and percentages.
- Ability to multi-task and be comfortable in a fast-paced work setting
- Operator III profile book completed at least at 70%
- Compliant on results gatekeeper
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to continuously walk up and down stairs.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Work Requirements
- Must be available to work any shift if needed.
- Must be available to work holidays and weekends.
- Must be able to work overtime as the business requires.
- Must maintain excellent attendance
- Ability to be cross trained and develop knowledge in all production areas/processes throughout the PCA Plants (from wash to pack).
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma.
- Operator level 3 on all pre-sorting equipment and understanding of Oracle WMS System.
- Global Quality knowledge and support.
- Team organization (5S)/Cleanliness/SOPs/LOTO
Pay Rate: $19.50
