Job Description

The Employee Engagement Specialist will play a key role in connecting and informing employees across our diverse workforce—from the field to the office. This role ensures alignment with the company’s mission, values, and goals through clear, timely, and effective internal communications.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who is comfortable visiting field locations and engaging directly with employees to foster connection, gather insights, and support initiatives that build culture and engagement. They will be skilled at creating compelling content, managing internal channels, and driving consistency in messaging across the organization.

Functions include but are not limited to the following. Must be able to move freely between tasks depending on workload, season, etc.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Content development & storytelling:

  • Draft, edit and distribute engaging internal communications including newsletters, announcements, leadership messages, intranet posts and digital signage,
  • Highlight safety milestones, safety programs, learning sharing teams etc
  • Translate business updates into clear, accessible messages for diverse audiences

Channel Management:

  • Maintain and update internal communication platforms (intranet, email newsletters, chat channels, town halls, etc)
  • Support video, photo, and multimedia content to enhance engagement

Campaign and Event support:

  • Assist in planning and executing company-wide communication campaigns (eg: Safety weeks, wellness initiatives, sustainability updates, pre & post-harvest townhall gatherings)
  • Support leadership communications, including talking points, presentations, and live events.
  • Coordinate logistics for employee engagement events and internal recognition program

Employee Engagement and Culture:

  • Act as a connector across teams to ensure employees feel informed, valued, engaged.
  • Help drive consistency of messaging that reflects company values and culture
  • Gather feedback through surveys, focus groups, and informal channels to improve communication strategies
  • Regularly visit field locations to build relationships, understand employee perspectives, and ensure communication strategies are inclusive and effective across all work environments

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Human Resources, or a related field; equivalent experience and education will be considered
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in communications, marketing, employee engagement, or a related role (internships may be considered toward experience)
  • Demonstrated experience in writing, editing, and proofreading for diverse audiences
  • Proven ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and communicate effectively with both field and office-based employees

SPECIFIC KNOWELDGE, AND SKILLS:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to different employee groups
  • Proficiency in internal communication tools (e.g., SharePoint, email campaign platforms, chat apps)
  • Skilled in content creation, including newsletters, digital signage, and multimedia (photo/video)
  • Understanding of employee engagement strategies and organizational culture-building initiatives
  • Familiarity with survey tools and feedback mechanisms (e.g., SurveyMonkey, Qualtrics)
  • Basic graphic design or visual storytelling skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Spark)
  • Knowledge of change management and organizational development principles
  • Ability to analyze engagement data and translate insights into actionable strategies
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus but not required.

Pay Range: $85,000 - $100,000. and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
