Job Description
Overview:
The Operations Rotational Program is a cross-functional rotational program focused on building a comprehensive understanding of the citrus industry’s operations, planning, quality, and sales functions. Gain hands-on experience in five key departments: Shipping, Production Planning, Varietal Management, Quality Control, and Export Sales. Develop strong analytical, operational, and cross-functional communication skills by working closely with cross-departmental teams and managing real-time business challenges. The program will provide a strategic and tactical exposure, in preparation to contribute meaningfully to both the front-line and decision-making aspects of the business.
Here's what you'll do:
- Collaborate cross-functionally with sales and operations multiple times daily, fostering strong working relationships and efficient communication.
- Gain hands-on experience in Oracle/Fusion systems to schedule appointments, verify onsite orders, track waiting times, and monitor dock assignments.
- Rotate across key planning roles for oranges, lemons, bagging, and supervisory functions.
- Strengthen customer service skills through daily interaction with drivers and internal customers
- Visit Texas operations to understand regional differences in quality processes
- Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) for order changes; shared documentation with shipping and sales teams to streamline processes.
- Gain unique upstream visibility into the shipping process, improving operational awareness and coordination.
- Participate in food safety efforts, including ranch inspections and a packinghouse audit.
- Rotate across key planning roles for oranges, lemons, bagging, and supervisory functions.
- Analyze and pivot inventory data to identify inefficiencies, ensuring timely downgrade of fruit approaching trigger dates.
- Develop pack plans and schedules in alignment with sales estimates and operational capacity
- Perform line inspections and partnered with operators to improve quality maps
- Gain an analytical and logistical understanding of fresh produce operations
- Utilize CALGA/CCGA tools to evaluate internal pricing competitiveness within the industry
- Analyze historical data trends (e.g., size structures) to inform seasonal planning
- Gain insight into differences between domestic and export processes, enhancing strategic sales planning and responsiveness.
Qualifications
Here's what you'll bring to the table:
- Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Finance, or a related field required
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and manipulate data using Excel (pivot tables, lookups, etc.); familiarity with ERP systems like Oracle/Fusion a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to build cross-functional relationships and collaborate effectively with teams across departments
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability and critical thinking, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
- Self-motivated and proactive; able to take initiative and manage responsibilities independently
- Willingness to travel occasionally (e.g., to field or regional locations)
- Prior internship or hands-on experience in operations, production, logistics, or agriculture industry preferred but not required
Pay Range: $70,000 - $75,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
