The Financial Analyst will support our participation in U.S. government-funded programs to promote export agriculture to foreign markets. This role ensures full compliance with applicable federal and international trade regulations, particularly those tied to USDA programs such as the Market Access Program (MAP) and other grant or cost-share initiatives.

This role will serve as a key contributor to internal teams and external partners on overseeing documentation, reporting, regulatory requirements and audit readiness in relation to MAP and other grant initiatives. The successful candidate will help safeguard funding eligibility, maintain program integrity, and promote ethical practices in export operations, as well as collaborate directly with USDA personnel and program officers to maintain alignment with federal guidelines and reporting standards.

This position will be based at our West Los Angeles, CA office. We work a hybrid schedule with an in-office requirement Monday-Wednesday and the option to work remotely on Thursday and Friday.

Job Description

The role will also own the end-to-end commission process for Wonderful Pistachios and Almonds, from calculation to reporting and optimization - ensuring accurate calculation, processing, and payment of commissions to both internal business units and external brokers. This role is critical in maintaining trust and transparency in our compensation process and requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work cross-functionally to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies. A successful candidate will also collaborate cross-functionally within internal and external teams to uncover insights through data analysis, and lead strategic initiatives that improve efficiency, transparency, and operational excellence in the end-to-end commission process.

The role will also contribute to various ad hoc analyses and process improvement initiatives, leveraging data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making and enhance operational efficiency across the organization.

  • Ensure organizational compliance with federal regulations tied to USDA/FAS programs and other government-funded agriculture export initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain compliance protocols, internal controls, and documentation systems to track program activities, expenditures, and reporting.
  • Prepare and submit required government compliance reports, including performance metrics, financial documentation, and audit materials.
  • Work closely with Sales, Finance, HR, and USDA personnel and program officers to ensure alignment on USDA compliance policies and updates.
  • Calculate and process commission payments accurately and on time for internal business units and external brokers, as well as maintain and update commission structures, rates, and broker agreements in internal systems.
  • Investigate and resolve commission discrepancies or disputes in a timely and professional manner between business units and outside brokers.
  • Work closely with customer service, sales, other business units and outside vendors to generate regular and ad hoc reports on commission payouts, trends, and performance metrics.
  • Lead process improvement projects to streamline workflows and enhance transparency for both commissions and USDA programs.
  • Perform other various ad hoc financial and operational analyses, and support special projects related to process improvements.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in FP&A or related field; will consider candidates right out of public accounting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics or a related field is preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; advanced Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with or a strong willingness to become proficient in Power BI, including transforming data, creating measures, and building reports
  • Experience with Oracle or another large ERP system a plus
  • Ability to perform financial analysis, including ability to effectively communicate findings and recommendations
  • Strong attention to detail and a desire for accuracy
  • Outstanding verbal/written communication, presentation, organizational and teamwork skills
  • Collaborative team player, strong relationship-building, and active partnership with cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytics and strategic thinking skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and entrepreneurial spirit to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interact with department leadership and senior executives in a confident and professional manner
  • Comfortable with shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment

Pay Range: $75,000 - $85,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
