Job Description
The Small Group Instructor (SGI) will work in partnership with classroom teachers to help facilitate learning in the classroom. The SGI works collaboratively with peers, teachers, and students with a deep commitment to our college-going mission. SGIs hold students and themselves to high expectations and uphold the Academy’s culture of excellence.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Shared Vision: Support a vision of excellence for all students, with an urgency to maximize every opportunity necessary to achieve ambitious student outcomes
- Teaching and Learning: With guidance from and in collaboration with the teacher, teach small groups during learning rotations. With guidance from and in collaboration with the teacher, lead small group intervention for targeted students. Meet with the teacher regularly to discuss student progress and plan next steps for instruction and intervention
- Coverage Support: Leads the classroom in the absence of the lead teacher
- Student Supervision: Supports campus supervision before and after school dismissal, assists in any lunch administration activities, such as escorting students to lunch and the play area.
- Community Outreach: Demonstrates commitment to the community by communicating regularly with families and attending key community events
- Professional Expectations: Participate fully in all assigned staff meetings, professional developments, and planning sessions. Prepare lessons and student exemplars as assigned. Participate fully in the coaching cycle (being observed, receiving real-time and post-lesson feedback, collaborating with a coach on action steps, implementing action steps, etc.). Support the general day-to-day activities of the school site
Assessment Lead Duties:
- Organize confidential testing materials
- Support testing logistics with guidance from the site Testing Coordinator
- Monitor testing progress
- Report progress to the site Testing Coordinator
- Assist IAs as needed with testing
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principals, and coaches
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor degree required
- Substitute Permit preferred
- Experience working with school-aged children- preferred
- Desire to pursue a teaching credential, preferred
- Bilingual Spanish speaker, preferred

Pay Range: $21.50 - $30.02/hour. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.

Compensation:
Wonderful College Prep Academy offers highly competitive compensation, commensurate with experience. Full-time staff benefits include medical coverage, dental, vision, and life insurance at no cost to the employee. We also offer an optional 403b, with company match, as a supplement to STRS retirement pension. In addition, employees have free access to the Wonderful Wellness Center and gym.
