Position Summary
Support all mechanical design related activities for TCDS Engineering to fulfil project requirements with respect to cost, schedule, scope and quality.
Establish and maintain effective interfaces with Systems Engineering, CM/DM, V&V, Integration and all other TCDS groups to provide a cohesive solution to project goals, challenges and issues.
Ensure that the Mechanical Engineering team contributes directly to TCDS success through innovation, competitive thinking & behaviour, and the efficient application of process
Key Areas of Responsibility

Resolve issues related to Unsatisfactory Condition Reports (UCR’s) and Notification Defects (ND’s) for the Arctic Offshore Patrol Vessels (AOPV) including the following:
Research issues and technical data to create Options Analysis Presentation and Report that list solution options
Develop Engineering Change (EC) specifications (installation/Removal) and drawings
Perform heat load calculations for EC changes as required
Initiate Technical Information Requests (TIR)
Specify mechanical equipment for procurement
Develop requirements for ship surveys
Create estimates for equipment, material and labour (including sub-contractors)
Self-manage all aspects of the EC change
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate mechanical engineers in delivering their work packages.
Ensure that mechanical designs are practical, producible and efficient, and that human interface requirements are met where required.
Analyze, define and trace system requirements and recommend performance measures.
Assist with the integration of procured systems in a multi-disciplinary
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or systems engineering disciplines or equivalent education with relevant experience.
Min 10 years of engineering experience with Marine Mechanical Systems, commercial or naval
P.Eng or Eligible to obtain P.Eng license
Comprehensive understanding of naval systems and design standards for commercial and naval platforms following IMO and Class requirements, Lloyds Register Rules & Regulations, IEC standards, IMO Regulations, SOLAS regulations, Transport Canada marine Acts and Regulations;
Experience in ship design, build, operation and maintenance;
Experience with Canadian ship building requirements for shock and vibration, EMC/EMI, drawing standards and industry design standards;
High level of planning, task management, analytical, and time management skills
High level oral and written communication skills required for report writing and design justification documentation
The Ideal candidate will also have familiarity with Windchill, JIRA and DOORS.

Special Position Requirements
Schedule: 40 hrs/week. Overtime may be necessary depends on the demand and project schedule
Physical Environment: Office environment, (Hybrid- Working from home and at office), sometime requires candidate to work in the lab or shipyard if it is necessary

The reference Total Target Compensation(TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between
