YOUR ROLE
The Applications Engineer Intern located in our Schaumburg, IL office will have a role focused on robotics with our engineering teams.
- Operate in a lab environment to enhance lab capabilities, perform characterization, and conduct system validation testing.
- Develop hardware and software for test equipment to validate MEMS sensors for robotics and other applications.
- Support the integration of sensing solutions into various hardware/software platforms.
- Assist in developing sensor data analysis and visualization routines.
- Create routines to facilitate sensor device testing using advanced lab equipment.
- Support testing activities to meet customer application requirements.
YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCES
- Pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechatronics, or a relevant engineering program (Master's degree preferred).
- Proficiency or working knowledge of ROS2 (Robot Operating System 2) for robot software development and integration.
- Experience with scripting development using Python or MATLAB®.
- Good understanding of communication protocols such as SPI, UART, and I²C.
- Familiarity with common lab equipment, including oscilloscopes and power supplies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and adapt quickly.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience working with sensors, such as IMU or ToF.
- Experience developing robotics applications using NVIDIA® Jetson™ platforms.
- Exposure to simulation environments such as Isaac Sim™ or Gazebo.
- Experience with firmware development for embedded systems using C/C++.
- Comfortable working in Linux® environments, command-line tools, and version control systems (e.g., Git).
