YOUR ROLE

ST has over 21,000 issued and pending patent assets worldwide. In this role, you will serve as a key contributor to ST's legal team for IP and licensing matters. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing third-party patent assertions, investigating identified products and technologies, and preparing defenses
  • Driving programs related to the out-licensing of ST patents
  • Attending patent licensing meetings and presenting positions
  • Managing correspondence with third parties related to in- and out-licensing patent programs
  • Drafting, negotiating, and providing legal support for IP-related agreements and transactions, including patent sales, trademark licenses, and the like
  • Supporting ST's general legal team on complex IP matters
  • Providing IP-related support for mergers and acquisitions
  • Serving as an expert advisor for patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets and other forms of IP rights
  • Managing outside counsel and outside technical consultants

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCES

  • J.D. degree from an accredited US law school
  • Bachelors degree, Masters degree or PhD, preferably in electrical engineering, physics, or other technical area relevant to the semiconductor industry
  • Registered U.S. Patent Attorney
  • 7-10 years of experience working as a patent attorney, preferably in the high-tech sector
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills
  • Excellent writing and critical thinking ability
  • Ability to distill and summarize complex legal and technical matters
  • Ability to build relationships and become a trusted legal advisor
  • Flexibility to travel 10-15% of the time, including internationally
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite products, including Power Point, Excel, and Word
  • Natural curiosity for learning
  • Capability of working both independently and as part of a team
  • Experience or interest in working with colleagues of different cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changes
