Job Description:
The Global Trade Compliance Intern is responsible for assisting with a wide variety of projects for our various lines of business. The individual will be responsible for providing assistance to the Americas Global Trade Compliance Organization with various tasks and projects related to U.S. Canada, Mexico and Brazil imports and exports and U.S. reexports trade compliance.
The candidate will be part of the STMicroelectronics (ST) Global Trade Compliance Organization (GTCO) that is responsible for import and export oversight, guidance, and enforcement to enable worldwide trade compliant business processes across ST, in order to uphold and protect ST's global trade privileges and ensure the success of ST's business. GTCO manages ST's global trade compliance portfolio and is responsible for global trade regulatory interpretation and coordination of policy advocacy, Global Brand Protection, Hardware, Software, Technology Compliance Strategy, and Market Access programs. GTCO reviews and resolves global trade compliance matters; serves as the clearinghouse for all global trade compliance information and is empowered to take actions necessary to ensure ST remains compliant with EU, U.S., Asia and applicable local Customs, import, and export laws, regulations, and statutes.
Responsibilities:
- Utilizing various software components to analyze import and export data elements.
- Analyzing U.S. Import Entry Data in support of customer requested duty drawback claims.
- Monitoring and guiding the business with miscellaneous exports.
- Monitoring and reviewing international trade classifications for accuracy and regulatory changes.
- Assists with departmental internal website.
- Assists with internal import and export audits.
- Assists with deemed exports analysis and export license reviews.
- Assists with setting global trade compliance attributes in various systems throughout the business.
- Provide assistance with other global trade compliance duties as assigned
Requirements:
The duration of this internship will be for 1 year (approximately from May 2025 - May 2026). The intern will work full-time (40 hours per week) during Summer 2025 and part-time (approximately 20-25 hours per week) during Fall 2025 and Spring 2026.
Soft Skills:
Successful candidates will be someone effective in engaging with people from diverse cultures and perspectives, detail-oriented, a team player, and has excellent editing, organizational and writing skills. The person would be a self-starter comfortable with outside-the-box thinking and the ability to work autonomously or as part of a team. Flexibility, responsiveness, and an ability to work under pressure both independently and collaboratively.
Education Level:
Must be a current student pursuing a degree in International Business and/or Trade, International Trade Management, Regulatory Trade Compliance, Business Administration, Political Science, Economics, Public Policy, Data Analytics, or a related field.
Experience Level:
- Work experience (inclusive of internships) in International Business and/or Trade, International Trade Management, Regulatory Trade Compliance, Business Administration, Political Science, Economics, Public Policy, Data Analytics, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communications across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft tools (SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, MS Teams) and similar tools/technologies.
- Strong relationship building and collaboration skills.

At STMicroelectronics, base salary is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. The base hourly rate range for this role is between $22 and $33 USD.
