Position Summary:
This individual will play a pivotal role in mitigating counterparty risks by conducting due diligence, risk assessments, and implementing risk management strategies. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in Counterparty/Commercial Underwriting.
Key Responsibilities:
Due Diligence
Conduct comprehensive due diligence on potential counterparties to assess their financial stability, operational capabilities, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Evaluate the suitability of potential counterparties in alignment with our bank's risk appetite and strategic objectives.
Risk Assessments
Perform thorough risk assessments on existing and potential counterparties, considering factors such as creditworthiness, operational risks, compliance issues, and strategic fit.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop risk mitigation strategies and recommend appropriate risk acceptance levels.
Policy Adherence
Ensure adherence to the bank's Counterparty/Commercial Underwriting policies and procedures in all aspects of counterparty relationship management.
Provide expert guidance to business units on policy interpretation and implementation.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all due diligence activities and risk assessments.
Generate comprehensive reports and summaries for review by senior management and regulatory bodies.
Continuous Monitoring
Establish monitoring mechanisms to track the performance and compliance of existing counterparties throughout the contractual relationship. Proactively identify emerging risks and recommend appropriate actions.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Compliance, Legal, Business Development, and Capital Markets to ensure alignment in risk management efforts. Act as a subject matter expert and provide guidance on Counterparty/Commercial Underwriting best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Counterparty/Commercial Underwriting within the banking industry.
- Strong understanding of counterparty risk assessment methodologies and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to convey complex risk information to various stakeholders.
