Facility Operations Manager

The Facility Operations Manager will play a critical role as the day-to-day manager of Shopify Rebellion’s LA headquarters. As the primary on-site contact, you will coordinate all facets of our esports training facility, providing support to players, staff, and visitors. Reporting to the Business Operations Lead, you will support in shaping, growing, and scaling the operations of the space over time. This role is based in Los Angeles with the expectation that you will work primarily on site at the Shopify Rebellion facility in Playa Vista.
About Shopify Rebellion
Shopify Rebellion is a professional esports organization established in 2021 as an independent division of Shopify. Our journey began with our first competitive roster in Starcraft 2 and, today, features teams competing in League of Legends, Valorant, Rocket League, and more.
What you will do:
Coordinate all on-site operations at Rebellion’s LA facility, overseeing multiple tasks simultaneously.
Support Rebellion Team Manager and Player requests, including onboarding, travel and housing, and individual player needs.
Own and cultivate relationships with vendors, including construction, culinary, and technical support, and ensure timely delivery of all services.
Communicate established Shopify processes and policies with external guests and vendors. This includes invoicing, legal, and on-site rules of engagement.
Manage upkeep of on-site merchandise program, storage, and technology.
Ensure on-site hardware is optimized for Rebellion’s training and competing, prioritizing knowledge of team schedules as they relate to space occupancy
Support executive visits and events at the space, providing a high level of care and using strong judgment, tact, and discretion when working with senior leaders and stakeholders.
Develop, propose, and execute activations that help bring the space to life and scale repeatable operating rhythms as needs grow.
Be a general team player in an organization where people wear many hats, including occasional off site work in support of the space or our broader program.
Regularly report project status, and communicate facility deficiencies and areas for improvement with Business Operations Lead.
Reflexively leverage AI tools to work more efficiently and raise the quality of outputs.
Qualifications:
Background in facilities, office, or event management.
Experience managing relationships with vendors across industries.
Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and solve problems as they arise.
Adaptability to handle unexpected situations.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills to provide professional support and maintain strong relationships.
Team management experience fostering a positive work environment.
Understanding of the esports industry and its unique requirements.
A passion for esports and a strong commitment to the success of a team.
Valid documents to be able to travel internationally with the team if needed.
Bonus Experience
Prior experience in the esports industry
Experience in merchandising, retail, or customer service
Familiarity with Google Workspace
Compensation and Benefits:
The estimated compensation range for this role is $60,600 - $115,500 which includes salary and equity. Pay is based on several factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Depending on the position offered, other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, 401K plan, and other benefits.
