We are seeking an experienced Global Indirect Tax Lead for a one-year, full-time contract role in our Tax Department. This remote position will oversee, manage, and review all aspects of indirect tax compliance and filings globally. Reporting to the Director of Indirect Tax in the US, you will work closely with a worldwide team to ensure end-to-end tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
You will be responsible for the entire indirect tax compliance cycle—from data collection and tax determination, through return preparation and filing, to month-end reconciliations and audit support—ensuring accurate, complete, and timely tax remittance, reporting, and documentation.
Job Description
As the Global Indirect Tax Compliance Lead, you will:
Own and manage global indirect tax compliance processes, including Sales/Use Tax (US), VAT (Europe, APAC, LATAM), and GST (Asia Pacific, Australia, and others).
Oversee the full compliance cycle: collect and validate data, determine and calculate taxes, review and reconcile indirect tax positions, prepare and file returns, request and validate tax payments and ensure timely month-end and year-end closes.
Lead month-end processes and reconciliations related to indirect taxes, resolving discrepancies and ensuring accurate financial recognition.
Maintain indirect tax calendars and coordinate with external advisors and filing providers as needed for global compliance.
Monitor and evaluate changes in tax laws, rates, and filing obligations in all relevant countries; communicate and implement changes promptly and effectively across the business.
Collaborate with internal teams (such as Treasury, Data Science, Accounting and Internal Audit) to ensure compliance information is sufficient and accurate for internal reporting, payments, and accounting records.
Drive process improvements and automations, leveraging AI and advanced technology tools to scale compliance and reduce risk.
Develop, update, and maintain documentation, controls, and process maps to support robust compliance, audit trails, and efficient tax operations.
Train and mentor internal team members to build global indirect tax knowledge and maintain best practices.
Job requirements
Experience working at pace in a remote, fast-changing environment.
Experience managing worldwide Indirect Tax compliance, including filings, reconciliations, and audit defense for US, EU, APAC, and LATAM.
In-depth knowledge of indirect tax principles and compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
Proven ability to manage large datasets, work with reporting engines, and utilize tax technology (NetSuite experience a plus).
Successful track record driving process improvements, controlling risk, and managing change in a multinational business.
Excellent cross-functional collaboration, communication, and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and deliver results while managing competing priorities.
Education and/or Experience
8+ years of experience in indirect tax compliance in multinational and/or public accounting environments.
Recognized tax or accounting qualification (Chartered Accountant or advanced degree highly desirable).
Fluent in English; additional language skills a plus.
