Within Clinical Sciences & Operations (CSO), the Modernization & Performance Office (MPO) leads the transformation toward faster, smarter and more data-driven clinical development. As part of MPO’s Clinical Performance Intelligence pillar, the Study Performance & Delivery Lead plays a pivotal role in building the next generation of predictive, insight-driven study performance management. This role ensures that study teams, functional leaders, and CSO executives have the intelligence needed to anticipate risks, accelerate timelines, improve quality, and strengthen delivery across the clinical development portfolio.

Main Responsibilities

Study Performance Intelligence

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to CSO leadership on portfolio performance, providing evidence-based recommendations that influence investment decisions, resource allocation, and strategic priorities across the clinical development portfolio.

  • Drive measurable improvements in study delivery timelines, cost efficiency - by collaborating with financial business partners - and quality outcomes, with direct impact on CSO's ability to deliver medicines to patients faster and more predictably - Develop and maintain Study KPI frameworks accordingly.

  • Analyze clinical endpoint data, biomarker results, and patient-reported outcomes across different indications.

  • Monitor and analyze clinical study performance metrics across multiple indications and therapeutic areas.

  • Monitor competitive landscape and benchmark indication performance against industry standards.

  • Conduct deep-dive analyses on at-risk studies and support mitigation planning.

Support to Study Teams & Leaders

  • Partner with CSO departments and study teams to monitor delivery performance and risks.

  • Provide early warning signals and evidence-based recommendations.

  • Support cross-functional performance reviews and escalation pathways.

  • Prepare insights for governance meetings and boards, audits, and inspections, ensuring alignment with CSO departments and modernization initiatives.

Modernization & Innovation

  • Lead the design of next-generation (proactive) performance intelligence capabilities, including AI-powered predictive models, automation platforms, and decision-support systems that fundamentally transform how CSO anticipates and manages delivery risk.

  • Advance the Performance Intelligence Framework through automation, advanced analytics, and predictive tools.

  • Collaborate with the team and Digital partners to deploy GenAI copilots, automation pipelines, and new decision-support platforms (e.g., TrialPulse, Nexus).

  • Contribute to modernization of performance processes and global standards.

Study Delivery Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive function-wide performance intelligence capabilities across all therapeutic areas and global functions, establishing standards and frameworks that shape how CSO measures, predicts, and optimizes clinical delivery at scale.

  • Drive continuous improvement of study timelines and operational efficiency.

  • Create study performance playbooks and best practices for CSO.

  • Identify cross-study systemic issues and propose structural improvements.

  • Support capability maturity assessments and benchmarking.

Collaboration & Leadership Enablement

  • Partner directly with CSO executive leadership, functional leaders and governance committees to shape performance monitoring strategy, drive accountability, and enable data-driven decision-making at the highest levels of the function.

  • Support the Head of MPO with priority coordination, performance oversight and reporting.

  • Ensure alignment with MPO Transformation and Digital & AI teams.

  • Contribute to capability uplift through training and mentoring on performance analytics.

About You

Experience & Knowledge

  • 5-10+ years in clinical operations, performance management, strategy consulting, audit or R&D analytics, with demonstrated success in driving strategic initiatives, influencing leadership, and delivering measurable organizational impact.

  • Strong capability in KPI design, root-cause analysis, operational analytics, and forecasting.

  • Experience with clinical trial processes, cycle time drivers, and study delivery operations.

  • Proficiency in Power BI or advanced Excel, and strong PowerPoint storytelling.

  • Exposure to predictive analytics, AI tools, automation, or digital platforms is a strong asset.

Education

  • Advanced business or scientific degree.

  • A degree in Business, Data Analytics, Engineering, Life Sciences, Public Health, or related is preferred.

Languages

  • Fluent English (spoken and written).

  • French is a plus.

The salary range for this position is:

$178,500.00 - $257,833.33
