Reporting to the Global Head New Product Planning, Immunology, the Senior Director, New Product Planning, Immunology will play a critical role in the future growth of the franchise. He/she will serve as an NPP lead across multiple program teams providing commercial leadership and strategic direction on products moving from pre-clinical into early development and proof-of-concept. This will include working closely with a variety of partners in R&D and commercial, including Market Access, Forecasting, Health Economics, and Competitive Intelligence, to drive commercial view on internal R&D projects. He/She will also work closely with immunology leadership, including Research and Development, to help drive the development and articulation of the Therapy Area (TA) and portfolio strategy. Additionally, he/she will also partner with Business Development and M&A teams to provide guidance and lead commercial assessments of external opportunities.

The position is based in Cambridge, MA unless otherwise agreed to by the Global Head of NPP.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide a robust and consistent commercial voice for immunology pipeline programs, representing the Global Business Unit (GBU) as a core member of the Global Project Team (GPT). Ensure that program direction is aligned with the GBU’s goals and strategy.
  • Provide commercial inputs to effectively develop and commercialize the drug candidates; support the team in preparing stage-gate decisions and presentations to key internal governance committees (Franchise leadership, Research and Development governance, and investment committees).
  • Conduct research to understand current and future disease epidemiology, market dynamics, patient segmentation, treatment paradigm, patient journey, unmet medical needs, competition, market access and pricing environment; lead the development of target product profiles (TPP), brand positioning, partner with Market Access to define the value proposition, pricing assumptions; develop forecasting assumptions and revenues projections in close collaborating with the Forecasting team.
  • Generate required data and insights to support robust assessments. Liaise extensively with internal and external experts to evaluate products, pathways, and treatment approaches. Translate key insights from scientific experts (internal R&D colleagues + external opinion leaders) into clear, actionable strategies for each asset in development, including requirements for regulatory submission, market access, and differentiation.
  • Provide key insights into the Integrated Development Plan assembled by the GPT
  • Help drive the development of the Sanofi I&I strategy through the Disease Area Strategy (DAS) annual process, including ensuring that our overall strategy and plan are well articulated. Establish and update Disease ID Cards and “Target Product Concepts” to help the organization identify and evaluate internal and external opportunities.
  • Lead commercial assessments of external opportunities (Business Development, M&A), from identification & triage of opportunities (Therapy Area roadmap), business case development and due diligence, to negotiation, financial modeling and contracting.
  • Anticipate and prepare declaration of Proof of Clinical and Commercial concept declaration and Transition Package to Global Brand Lead, with proposed path to launch plan. Ensure Pre-launch Strategy and Activities in scope with NPP function is well coordinated (Advocacy Strategy & Communication plans, Market Shaping activities, etc.)
  • Drive the commercial assessment for valuation process on relevant assets, supporting the technical and financial assessments, lead alternate scenario planning

About You

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (MBA, MS or PhD in life science preferred) 10+ years of relevant biopharmaceutical industry experience; experience in new product planning / early commercialization, Business development, pre-launch commercial activities, or consulting experience in the biopharmaceutical industry is required
  • Experience in Immunology indications is highly preferred
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, planning, analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to engage credibly with internal and external stakeholders around scientific and drug development topics; familiar with the process of drug development from discovery research to commercialization
  • Driven and result-oriented; Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize work with a sense of urgency
  • Demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed environment with many cross-functional partners including marketing brand teams, market research, market access, medical affairs, business development, regulatory, research & development, manufacturing, finance and legal
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and quickly adjust to changing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including ability to synthesize and deliver a clear overview of the strategy, opportunity and risks for Sanofi executives
  • Valid passport and ability to travel internationally

The salary range for this position is:

$206,250.00 - $343,750.00
