The Large Molecule Research (LMR) group is a platform organization that supports early-stage protein therapeutic research at Sanofi. Our global team interfaces with the therapeutic areas and CMC development to deliver first-in-class and best-in-class medicines to treat diverse disease areas.

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to join the Biologics Characterization, Expression, and Purification (BiCEP) team as a Senior Associate Scientist. The lab-based candidate will be responsible for production and analysis of protein tools and therapeutic candidates. They will work closely with other LMR functional groups (Antibody Discovery, Molecular Biology & Screening Technology, Protein Engineering) as well as cross-functional project teams to discover new therapeutic antibodies. Success in this position requires strong expertise in protein characterization, ability to propose innovative solutions to workflow challenges, and ability to communicate scientific results to mixed (expert/non-expert) audiences. The position is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Express and purify recombinant antibodies, antigens, and fusion proteins from mammalian expression systems

  • Perform analytics to ensure the purity, quality, and function of recombinant proteins

  • Initiate, design, and perform innovative technology development experiments

  • Present data to department and project teams

  • Ensure thorough and compliant experimental data capture to enable training of ML/AI algorithms

  • Interface with digital teams to automate data management bottlenecks

About You

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Biomedical Engineering or a related field

  • 5+ years of industry experience (bachelor’s degree) or 2+ years of industry experience (master’s degree)

  • Demonstrated ability to independently design and execute experiments

  • Hands-on experience with transient and stable mammalian protein expression

  • Experience with protein purification using automated (AKTA) systems

  • Background in bioconjugation to produce & characterize non-standard protein formats

  • Expertise in protein analytical techniques, such as HPLC, mass spectrometry, SPR (Biacore/Carterra), BLI (Octet), SDS-PAGE, ELISA, Western blotting

  • Ability to present findings to diverse scientific groups in clear and concise manner

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

The salary range for this position is:

$73,500.00 - $106,166.66
