Provide Occupational Health Nursing and clinical expertise in the administration of the Medical Surveillance and Immunization Programs. Provision of Emergency Care Management for work related injury or illness including Biohazard emergencies, and site non-occupational illness. Case Management and fitness for duty assessments with a focus on early intervention and the facilitation of timely and safe return to work for all employees off work due to injury or illness both occupational and non-occupational.

Main Responsibilities:
Provide primary care and clinical assessment for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses; includes emergency care, evaluation and treatment, use of AED, Oxygen, medication administration, epinephrine
in allergic emergencies, and post-exposure treatment plans in the event of a biological exposure.
Clearance assessments for return to work to areas which require occupational health follow up which may include communication with health care practitioners to determine the ability to work safely.
Pre-placement and periodic health assessments, with emphasis on ensuring the ability to work and perform the job tasks safely.
Deliver and oversee all medical surveillance and immunization programs in compliance with all regulatory and company guidelines. Includes but not limited to: DOT, CDL, Hazmat clearance, full face respirator clearances immunization, venipuncture, visual acuity testing, audiograms, respirator fitness assessments, pulmonary function testing, forklift driver assessments, animal allergy assessments, reproductive risk assessments, and other testing as required by project needs, or based on risk assessments, and within scope of practice.
Added NP scope includes:
Review and medically approve respirator clearances and refer to specialist as required.
Review and medically approve audiometric results and refer to specialist as required.
Develop and implement medical directives for medication and vaccination.
Order and requisition lab work for antibody titers, chest x-rays, physical therapy, referrals and other diagnostic testing and treatment options, within the scope of practice.
Provide Travel Consultations when vaccinations and/or medication are indicated.
Deliver on Workman’s compensation management program.
Planning, implementation and follow-up of safe return to work, including the identification of barriers and opportunities for suitable work duties within the functional abilities of the employee through the use of physical
demands analysis, physical guidelines assessments, and job hazard assessments.
Document and track all elements of each managed case, and participate in the development of statistical reports.
Facilitate completion of the relevant reporting to appropriate parties.
Conduct job coaching on safe work practices.
Health and wellness counseling, wellness promotion initiatives, and events, including preparing and presenting on health topics.
Assist HSE with risk assessments to ensure that appropriate medical surveillance is established for potential health risks, includes shop floor walk throughs, and reviewing Industrial Hygiene data and providing recommendations on the use of personal protective equipment, training needs, and legislative requirements.
Collaboration and support of OH policy development and revision updates. Remove for contract staff
Troubleshooting of EMR to ensure accuracy of data base for Electronic Medical Records and consistency with good documentation practices, and standards.
Promotion of Occupational Health Program, including training and representation of OH service to the site.
Maintain all medical information in compliance with regulations and practice standards. · Maintain the supplies and equipment of the site Health Center as assigned
About You
Knowledge and Skills:
Registered Nurse in extended class with a current Advanced Practice Nurse License.
Certification in Occupational Health is preferred.
3-5 years experience in Occupational Health
CPR/AED certification
Strong clinical assessment skills and comfort working autonomously
Experience in Biosafety preferred
Spirometry certification
Audiometric certification
Phlebotomy experience required
Case management experience
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills required
Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act, HIPPA, ADA, FDA, CDC.
Excellent written, and verbal communications skills.
Proficient computer skills, including advanced experience with EMR.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
Post-bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (Masters in Nursing)
Related experience in occupational health. Good judgment, discretion, resolution strategies, teamwork, and decision making often with time sensitivities. Professional and ethical accountability for the protection of personal health information, complex, and/or sensitive information, and adherence to the highest standards of confidentiality, and ethical practice. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong organizational and time management skills.
Job requires consistent demonstration of appropriate behavioral competencies as defined through the company values.
Must demonstrate strong commitment to customers, and strategic partnerships across the site.
Must have flexibility in hours, and be able to adapt to competing priorities.
