📢 Our Saint-Gobain Phoenix Coating Resources team is looking for a Mechanical Process Engineer VIE to assist with the development of various automated systems, monitoring data collection, inspecting finished products, and digitalizing our performance control systems.
🎯 The main role:
As a VIE, you will support the development of automation processes at the site. This includes assisting with the setup of an automatic CNC lathe machine, connecting Spray Dry control panels to Ignition for real-time data collection and dashboard creation, helping implement digital production boards for KPIs, and integrating tablets in the Wet Screen and Spray Dry areas for data collection.
Additionally, you will work on process improvements in the furnace area, such as reducing cooling time and evaluating the need for oxygen, as well as focusing on predictive relining and repair using energy consumption data.
This way, your main tasks will consist of:
- Assisting in setting up new CNC lathe equipment and Cobot in the lathe department;
- Participating in digital automation and manufacturing 4.0 initiatives with production team members, other support departments, and external resources;
- Promoting data acquisition, data analytics, digital solutions, and automation;
- Assisting with improving production efficiency and enhance profitability through the application of World Class Manufacturing principles using Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools;
- Providing hands-on assistance to Manufacturing and Maintenance personnel on the production floor to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions;
- Participating in cost control programs and the standardization of processes and procedures. Frequently interacts with production personnel to evaluate and solve production problems and to advise on process capability and customer demands;
- Being responsible for assisting with various capital project activities from the bidding process, completion of appropriations, overseeing installations, commissioning the start up;
- Working and interacting with production team members, other support departments, and occasionally with customers to ensure project fulfillment;
- Performing statistical analysis of process variables and rejection rates, interprets data and leads resulting process and product improvement projects; Creates, implements, and oversees vital quality and process control procedures.
Extra information:
- This is an onsite role, with the possibility of working remotely when the activity allows it (4 days per week on site minimum).
- This is an 18-month mission, non-extendable.

- You hold a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Chemical Engineering or Industrial Engineering with a focus on process improvement, automation, or data systems;
- You are fluent in English (written and spoken);
- You have a prior experience in a Manufacturing or production environment.
- You have a first experience with database integration/programming: preferably SCADA systems, and Ignition (Python, SQL) development and implementation, with a strong understanding of Ignition modules and scripting.
- You could acquire some knowledge of data systems for manufacturing; some experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) would be nice to have.
- You possess excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- You are also recognized for your strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- You can easily manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
A team ready to welcome you
The site is managed by the Plant Manager and staff. The staff consists of engineers in departmental roles supporting all of the Production and Quality functions.
Fully involved in the automation of our production processes, you will be working under the supervision of the Plant Manager and in close collaboration with the Process Engineer and WCM Coordinator. Interactions with the production team are expected as well.
Steps to join us

- Then, you’ll have 2 interviews with the local team: one with the Plant Manager and the Process Engineer & WCM Coordinator, and a final interview with the Engineering team consisting of 3 persons (on Teams)
- If you are selected, you will receive confirmation by email and have an Onboarding Day at the Tour Saint-Gobain in Paris before your departure.

Mulberry is a little over an hour from Orlando, Florida’s major attractions, and less than 1 hour from the Florida beaches. Florida maintains mild temperatures during the winter months and is typical summer temperatures for those that love the outdoors.
