The People Science & Analytics team at Roblox supports our People, Places, & Systems group in optimizing the talent lifecycle, encompassing talent identification, data-driven competency development, and the scientific management of learning, development, and well-being throughout their tenure with our company. We apply behavioral science and rigorous research methods to shape people strategies and deliver meaningful insights that enhance employee experience and organizational effectiveness.
Our team delivers a wide range of insights and solutions for Roblox, from developing hiring assessments and conducting job analysis to executing workforce research and shaping people practices across the company. Reporting to the People Scientist Manager within People Science and Analytics, you will join a collaborative team of expert people and data scientists dedicated to translating research into practice. In this role, you will focus on proactive, evidence-based consultation and lead employee listening efforts that help surface and translate the voice of Roblox employees into actionable insights for key people-related decisions.
This role is ideal for someone with a PhD in Industrial-Organizational Psychology or a related discipline and several years of applied experience using behavioral science to inform organizational decision-making. You will play a key role in advancing our approach to organizational diagnostics and development by collecting, interpreting, and translating qualitative and quantitative data into actionable insights. This is an execution-focused role that supports strategic direction set by the business—ideal for someone who takes pride in producing rigorous, thoughtful research that informs leadership, people development, and organizational effectiveness at Roblox.
This role is based onsite at our HQ in San Mateo, CA.
You Will:
- Serve as a behavioral science partner to People Business Partners (PBPs), building trusted relationships and helping identify where research can proactively support people-related decision-making.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of science-based, data-driven solutions across the full range of People Operations challenges, in collaboration with scientists, engineers, and cross-functional partners.
- Support the development and execution of employee surveys, including item refinement, fielding, response monitoring, and reporting preparation.
- Conduct qualitative research activities such as focus groups, job analysis interviews, job shadowing, and cognitive task analyses to support performance design, role clarity, and employee insights work.
- Analyze survey data and other feedback sources to identify meaningful trends, support interpretation, and communicate clear, actionable insights.
- Translate broad people-related questions into scoped research activities, helping clarify goals, determine appropriate methods, and ensure delivery of evidence-based findings.
- Partner closely with senior scientists and HR stakeholders to deliver timely, well-grounded insights related to employee sentiment, engagement, and team-specific challenges.
- Draft and iterate on research summaries, presentations, and visualizations that make complex findings digestible and relevant for non-technical audiences.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of tools and frameworks that support employee performance, capability modeling, and organizational development.
- Track emerging patterns and feedback themes across different employee groups and help prioritize areas for deeper investigation.
You Have:
- PhD in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Behavioral Science, Cognitive Psychology, Learning Science, or related field.
- 4–6 years of experience conducting applied organizational research in corporate, consulting, or internal HR settings.
- Solid background in survey methodology and sampling, with the ability to interpret analytical results and collaborate with data scientists using tools like R or Python.
- Demonstrated experience leading employee surveys from design through reporting, including item writing, sampling, and response interpretation.
- Strong qualitative research skills, including experience running focus groups, job analysis interviews, or analyzing open-ended employee feedback.
- A deep understanding of organizational psychology concepts such as engagement, performance management, organizational culture, and change readiness.
- Experience supporting internal clients, translating their questions into actionable research efforts, and providing data-driven recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in synthesizing complex research into clear, compelling insights.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while remaining flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced, continuously evolving environment.

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.
Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
