As an Engineering Manager on Ridgeline’s Agent Foundry team, you will guide a team of engineers building AI-powered agents that drive automation, streamline workflows, and deliver measurable value to investment management professionals. These agents live at the intersection of large language models, structured and unstructured data, and domain-specific workflows—and your leadership will ensure they are reliable, scalable, and impactful. In this role, you’ll stay close to the codebase while mentoring engineers, collaborating across disciplines, and advancing technical strategy. You'll harness AI tools like Cursor and ChatGPT to accelerate development and encourage experimentation. This is a unique opportunity to lead a high-ownership team at the forefront of enterprise AI adoption, all while helping shape a startup that’s rethinking what investment management software can look like.

What will you do?
- Guide a team of engineers building full-stack agent capabilities powered by LLMs and integrated into Ridgeline’s unified cloud platform
- Collaborate with product, design, and AI platform peers to define technical direction and prioritize impactful customer solutions
- Stay hands-on with the codebase to support rapid prototyping, architectural planning, and critical path execution
- Promote engineering excellence through strong design patterns, rigorous code reviews, and high bar for testing and reliability
- Coach engineers through feedback, pairing, and thoughtful delegation that supports both velocity and career growth
- Drive team rituals and agile processes that support clarity, accountability, and fast iteration
- Integrate AI workflows such as RAG, structured agent orchestration, and observability frameworks into production systems
- Build a collaborative and inclusive team environment where learning is continuous and feedback is welcomed
- Advocate for intelligent defaults, scalable abstractions, and extensible agent infrastructure
- Ensure close alignment with other Ridgeline teams and support multi-location team coordination
- Champion innovation and practical experimentation as part of the engineering culture
Desired Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of engineering leadership experience, including team management and hands-on contributions to product delivery
- Proven experience building cloud-native applications using modern tech stacks (e.g., Kotlin, Java, React, TypeScript, AWS)
- Familiarity with integrating and deploying generative AI models in production systems
- Strong understanding of data structures, distributed systems, and scalable application design
- Effective communicator with the ability to articulate complex ideas to technical and non-technical partners
- Ability to balance long-term architectural thinking with pragmatic short-term decisions
- Enthusiasm for AI experimentation, learning in public, and adapting to a fast-evolving ecosystem
- Passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing diverse engineering talent
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, high-ownership environment where requirements evolve and fast pace is essential
Bonus
- Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation, vector databases, or structured agent frameworks
- Background in financial technology, especially investment operations or workflow automation
- Exposure to LLM ops practices such as observability, evaluation, or prompt versioning
- Experience running inclusive hiring practices and building equitable teams
- Contributions to internal knowledge-sharing initiatives, developer experience efforts, or open-source projects
- Familiarity with AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Anthropic, or Amazon Bedrock

Compensation and Benefits
The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below. In select locations (including, the San Francisco Bay Area, CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below.
The typical starting salary range for this role is: $174,500-$205,000.
The typical starting salary range for this role in the select locations listed above is: $185,000-$220,000.
Final compensation amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amount listed above.
