We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant This role plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, supporting financial reporting processes, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This individual will be the main point of contact for accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), and payroll processing. You will be working on operational and strategic initiatives, such as automation and compensation projects, capital expenditures, customer invoicing and management, banking relationships, internal controls, and compliance.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, detail-oriented team player who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This position is based at our Reno office. This is an immediate opening, and we are looking for someone who can jump in and make an impact right away.
What will you do?
- General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards. This includes recording and classifying financial transactions, reviewing and analyzing general ledger balances, and preparing adjusting entries as needed (accruals, depreciation and amortization).
- Month-end and Year-end Closing: Assist in the preparation of month-end and year-end financial statements and reports. This involves coordinating with various departments to gather necessary information, performing account reconciliations, and ensuring timely and accurate financial closing processes
- Accounts Payable: Using Ramp, manage vendor relationships and oversee invoice entry and processing, as well as manage and reconcile the corporate credit card program.
- Payroll: Coordinate with HR Operations and Business Partners for accurate and timely payroll processing, including tracking workforce updates to ensure payroll compliance
- Revenue Recognition: Collaborate with sales, operations, and legal teams to understand contract terms and identify any potential issues or risks related to revenue recognition.
- Corporate Tax: File all required state and local tax returns including sales tax using Avalara. Manage all registrations for new jurisdictions as necessary
- Compliance and Internal Controls: Adhere to company policies, accounting regulations, and internal control procedures. Monitor compliance with financial policies and procedures and recommend enhancements or corrective actions as needed.
- Compliance and Regulatory Reporting: Assist in the preparation and submission of regulatory filings and compliance reports, such as tax returns, government surveys, and other financial disclosures. Assuring systems and procedures are in place to demonstrate compliance
with state federal requirements - Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve accounting processes and procedures to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness. Identify opportunities for automation and implement streamlined workflows where possible.
- Preparation of proper audit and tax documentation, and of technical accounting memos as needed
- Automate and operationalize repeatable tasks with the goal of shortening the month end close process while maintaining strong controls and hygiene that will meet stringent SOX standards
- Participate in other systems implementations, business growth and OKR initiatives on an ad hoc basis
We're looking for people who meet the minimum requirements for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Holder of Bachelor's degree major or above in accounting or related disciplines. A strong foundation in accounting principles and practices is essential.
- At least 4-5 years of working experience in the accounting field. You should have a solid track record of hands-on experience in various accounting functions.
- Strong understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- High proficiency in Google sheets and Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and complex formulas and connected sheets, are highly desirable.
- Detail oriented, positive attitude, and self-motivated. You should be able to work independently, manage your time effectively, and maintain a positive attitude.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills. You'll need to collaborate with colleagues, communicate with management, and explain financial information clearly and concisely.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Big Four experience and CPA certification or working towards it
- Experience in a start up and Fintech industry a plus
- Software familiarity (QBO, Ramp, Expensify, Workato, GSuite, Avalara, etc., or other ERP systems)
- Perform other duties as assigned by management. You might be asked to participate in special projects, assist with budget preparation, or take on other tasks as needed to support the department.
