Overview

The Paid Search Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing paid search campaigns across platforms such as Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising (Bing) to drive qualified traffic and achieve defined performance goals. This role owns the paid search function end-to-end, including keyword strategy, bidding, ad copy, budget management, and performance analysis.

This position needs a highly self-directed, comfortable making independent decisions, and capable of setting best practices without day-to-day oversight. The Paid Search Manager partners cross-functionally with marketing, analytics, and creative teams to ensure campaigns align with broader business objectives and deliver measurable impact.

Your Impact

  • Own the strategy, execution, and ongoing optimization of paid search campaigns across Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising.
  • Develop and manage keyword strategies, match types, audience targeting, and campaign structures to maximize efficiency and scale.
  • Create, test, and optimize ad copy to improve click-through rates, Quality Score, and conversion performance.
  • Manage bidding strategies and budget allocation to meet or exceed ROI, CPA, ROAS, and other performance targets.
  • Continuously analyze campaign performance, identify trends, and implement data-driven optimizations.
  • Design and execute A/B tests for ads, landing pages (in partnership with creative teams), and bidding approaches.
  • Monitor industry trends, platform updates, and competitive activity to identify new opportunities and risks.
  • Collaborate with marketing, analytics, and creative partners to ensure paid search efforts align with overall marketing and business goals.
  • Deliver clear, actionable reporting and insights to stakeholders, translating performance data into recommendations and next steps.
  • Establish and document paid search best practices, processes, and standards in the absence of craft-level oversight.

Qualifications

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in ad operations, media planning, or digital advertising.
  • Proven experience managing paid search campaigns at scale across Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising.
  • Strong understanding of keyword research, bidding strategies, Quality Score optimization, and conversion tracking.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze performance data and turn insights into clear optimization actions.
  • Experience managing budgets and forecasting performance against business goals.
  • Hands-on experience with analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain performance and strategy to non-specialists.

  • Familiarity with landing page optimization and conversion rate optimization (CRO) principles.
  • Experience collaborating closely with creative and analytics teams in a matrixed organization.
