How You’ll Make an Impact
Reporting to the SVP of Engineering, the Senior Staff Software Engineer shapes technical strategy across the engineering organisation. While this predominantly a hands-on role, you'll also define the standards and patterns that teams build on, tackle the hardest cross-cutting technical challenges, and serve as a key technical voice in organisational decisions. Your influence extends beyond your immediate domain - you help set the direction for how the organisation builds and operates its platform.
What You’ll Achieve
- Define and drive technical strategy across multiple domains and teams
- Lead the design and delivery of the most complex, high-impact technical initiatives
- Establish engineering standards, patterns, and practices adopted organisation-wide
- Mentor Staff and Lead engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence
- Evaluate and recommend technology choices and platform investments
- Partner with engineering leadership to align technical strategy with business objectives
- Drive improvements to system reliability, scalability, and operational excellence
- Represent the organisation's technical capabilities in cross-functional and external forums
Who You Are
- What you’ll bring with you:
- Deep expertise in multiple technology domains (frontend, backend, infrastructure, data)
- Experience with Cloud Computing infrastructure and architecture (e.g. AWS/Google Cloud)
- Extensive experience designing and evolving large-scale distributed systems
- Proven track record of driving technical strategy across multiple teams
- Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience influencing engineering culture, standards, and technical decision-making at an organisational level
- History of successfully delivering complex, cross-cutting initiatives from conception to production
- Champion and model adoption of AI tools across the organisation
Highly Regarded:
- Experience designing systems for high availability and global scale
- Experience with platform engineering and developer experience at an organisational level
- Experience with technical due diligence, architecture reviews, or advisory roles
- Track record of mentoring engineers into Lead and Staff roles
- GCP Experience
- Deep Expertise with Go or Java
- Kubernetes, Terraform or other IaC frameworks.
- Desirable
- Background in Ad Tech, Retail Media, e-commerce, or recommendation systems
- Experience with real-time bidding, auction systems, or high-throughput data pipelines
- Contributions to open-source projects or technical publications
