We’re an agency looking to defy the status quo.
We’re in the business of making your business better. And it’s our mission to give our partners the most compelling advertising experience possible.
While everyone else is concerned about the best practices of yesterday, we are discovering and defining innovative solutions for tomorrow. We do that by moving fast, breaking rules, rebuilding systems, generating solutions and taking performance to its limits -- then pushing it even farther.
We’re here to be the arbiters of change. To rock the boat. To upset the apple cart. To cause a disturbance in the force.
We’re here to Dysrupt.
Overview
Dysrupt is looking for a Director of Media Strategy who can blend big-picture thinking with hands-on performance expertise. In this role, you’ll lead strategy across a mix of clients, mentor a small but mighty team, and bring sharp audience, regional, and platform insights to every engagement. You’ll be the person clients trust to help them understand not just how media performs within the algorithm, but how media can solve real business challenges.
This role suits someone experienced in digital campaign management who wants to move upstream. It involves guiding planning, crafting strategy, and encouraging multi-platform thinking. You will stay close enough to the work to understand what’s happening under the hood.
Why Dysrupt?
We’re a team of thinkers, builders, and problem-solvers who believe media should move people and businesses forward. At Dysrupt, you’ll have room to experiment, stretch your strategic voice, and shape how a growing agency shows up in the world.
Before we go further, ask yourself:
- Do you geek out over how platforms optimize in the algo but also know when a broader approach is needed?
- Do you enjoy uncovering audience behaviors, regional patterns, and the “why” behind performance?
- Do you get excited about new dysruptive strategies and ideas that challenge the status quo? (see what we did there 😀)
- Do you have passions outside of work you’re excited to bring into our culture?
Responsibilities
- Own the strategic direction for a portfolio of clients, guiding audience development, regional planning, channel mix decisions, and results-focused media strategies.
- Partner closely with client leads to translate business problems into media solutions and present clear, persuasive strategic recommendations.
- Guide a small team (2–4 people), offering mentor, feedback, and hands-on support while modeling excellence in research, planning, insights, and platform proficiency.
- Build integrated paid media plans rooted in platform mechanics, historical data, competitive intelligence, and cultural/behavioral insight.
- Provide expert POVs on how to structure and optimize campaigns across biddable platforms—ensuring the team understands how to perform within each platform’s algorithmic systems.
- Review pacing, reporting, and campaign outputs at a strategic level to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with client goals.
- Lead development of testing strategies, learning agendas, and measurement approaches that push both clients and Dysrupt forward.
- Work cross-functionally with Creative, Analytics, and Account Management to ensure strategies ladder up to broader brand and business objectives.
- Stay ahead of market shifts and platform changes, proactively bringing new opportunities, hypotheses, and ideas to clients.
- Serve as the strategic lead in client meetings—communicating insights, defending strategic choices, simplifying complexity, and shaping long-term planning.
- Contribute to process improvements, team operations, and the evolution of Dysrupt’s strategic offering.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in performance marketing, digital strategy, or media planning, with multi-platform experience (Meta, Google, TikTok, YouTube, etc.).
- 2+ years of team leadership or mentorship experience; able to develop talent in a hands-on, fast paced environment.
- Strong understanding of how biddable platforms optimize and how audience, creative, budget design, and regional strategy influence performance.
- Proven track record to build media strategies coordinated around audience research, market dynamics, and platform mechanics.
- Skilled at interpreting data and crafting narratives that drive confident decision-making.
- Excellent client-facing communication skills—clear, persuasive, and comfortable leading conversations from strategic diagnosis through activation.
