Overview
We are seeking a skilled Data Privacy Counsel to join our Global Data Privacy Office (GDPO) to ensure compliance with North American privacy laws and regulations. The Data Privacy Counsel (Services Team) advises client-facing teams on data protection obligations within services engagements. The role focuses on DPA contracting, website privacy notice support, training and awareness for business teams, and coordination among advertisers and vendors to align on privacy controls and data use.
Responsibilities
- Legal Compliance: Monitor and interpret North American privacy legislation applicable to marketing and advertising; advise on compliant processing and data transfers.
- DPA Contracting: Draft, review, and negotiate Data Protection Agreements and privacy terms in client agreements; align with GDPO policies.
- Website Privacy Notices: Support drafting and maintenance of consumer-facing privacy notices, disclosures, and consent language for agency websites and service microsites.
- Training & Awareness: Design and deliver privacy training to client engagement teams, reinforcing GDPO policies and requirements.
- Vendor Coordination (Advertisers ↔ Vendors): Guide coordination between advertisers and service vendors (e.g., data processors, ad tech partners) to ensure contractual controls, advertiser reviewed diligence, and compliant data flows.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with privacy operations, client services, security, and marketing to embed privacy by default in service delivery.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and membership in good standing with a state bar.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in privacy law or experience in the digital advertising industry.
- In-depth knowledge of privacy laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex legal issues and provide practical solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex privacy concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Personable, team player and willing to take on new challenges as both the privacy landscape and the Groupe’s services evolve.
- Certification such as CIPP/US is a plus.
