Job Summary

We are seeking a technically proficient and detail-driven Data Analyst with 3+ years of experience to support our data initiatives in the Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance domain. This role will focus on understanding and optimizing data systems across policy, claims, underwriting, finance and accounting, and reporting functions. You will analyze complex insurance data structures, design schemas, conduct thorough data validation, and enable high-quality data flows that support business intelligence, regulatory reporting, and strategic decision-making.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Analyze and optimize data systems related to policy administration, claims processing, rating, underwriting, and customer data
  • Collaborate with actuarial, underwriting, and reporting teams to define and document data requirements
  • Design and manage logical and physical data models tailored for P&C insurance operations
  • Map and translate raw insurance data into reporting-ready formats, ensuring accuracy and consistency
  • Support the development of ETL processes for ingesting, cleansing, transforming, and validating insurance datasets
  • Define and execute data validation, reconciliation, and consistency checks during ETL and reporting development
  • Create and manage test cases and test plans to validate data across staging, data warehouse, and reporting layers
  • Collaborate with QA and business users to verify data accuracy, completeness, and usability for reporting and analytics
  • Maintain documentation of data lineage, transformation logic, and system interfaces
  • Ensure compliance with insurance data standards (e.g., NAIC, ISO, state-specific regulations)
  • Build robust and scalable reporting data layers
  • Monitor data quality and collaborate with IT to proactively resolve data integrity issues
  • Assist with onboarding new data sources, such as external property data, weather risk feeds, or third-party inspection data

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Strong understanding of P&C insurance data structures: policy lifecycle, coverages, claims, premiums, risk scoring
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying, transforming, and validating insurance data
  • Experience with data modeling tools and concepts (star schema, snowflake schema)
  • Familiarity with insurance systems (e.g., Guidewire, or legacy PAS) is a strong plus
  • Hands-on experience with data testing methodologies and tools to verify data integrity across environments
  • Experience with BI/reporting tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to translate complex data into actionable insights
  • Knowledge of ETL tools, data pipelines, or scripting languages (e.g., Python, Alteryx)
  • Understanding of data governance, regulatory compliance, and audit requirements in insurance
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills to support collaboration across business and tech teams
  • Exposure to cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, AWS Redshift) preferred

Required Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering.
  • 2+ years of P&C Insurance Industry experience.
  • 3+ years of Data analysis experience.

  • Master’s in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering.
  • 3+ years of P&C Insurance Industry experience.
  • 4+ years of Data analysis experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.

Salary: Starting at $80,000 annually. Candidate's skills, experience and abilities will be taken into consideration for final offer.
