The Role
We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead one or more of our teams building AI agents for our SMB customers – these agents solve real-world problems for local businesses like “schedule test drives for my auto dealership” or “schedule service appointments for my HVAC business.” You might work on the core AI agent infrastructure, one of the teams servicing vertical customers, or the communications platform that powers millions of local-business-to-consumer interactions every day. Our ambitions are massive and in any of these teams your impact on the business will be immense – we believe in the power of small teams to do great things, powered by AI code-generation agents to do way more than we could in the past.
What You’ll Do
- Be Customer-Obsessed – We expect every engineering manager to talk to customers, understand their needs, and be “joined at the hip” with their product counterparts to build solutions for our customers better than any of us could design or engineer on our own. We’re looking for builders with an excellent product sense.
- Be Hands-On – Contribute code to production systems and actively participate in architecture, design reviews, code reviews, and critical technical decisions alongside your senior engineering team.
- Drive Engineering Execution & Delivery – Lead a team of engineers to ship tons of value to our customers and ship it fast. We prioritize a sense of urgency, but a big part of your job is also to foster a culture of technical excellence and speed without sacrificing reliability.
- Technical Strategy & Roadmap – We expect our engineering managers to drive technical strategy for their teams, balancing long-term architecture with short-term pragmatism. The buck stops with you
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years of engineering management experience with hands-on technical leadership; comfortable working directly on architecture and technical decisions with senior engineers who need less day-to-day management.
- 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with a track record of building distributed systems or data-intensive applications.
- You use AI to code and are passionate about harnessing this new magic in your work, side-projects, or both.
- Proven ability to lead high-performing teams through complex challenges in a fast-paced, startup environment.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset. You can align technical roadmaps with business outcomes.
- Experience with hiring, mentoring, and developing engineering talent.
Bonus: Experience with LLM deployment, AI agent frameworks (LangGraph), agent evaluations, multi-turn agent orchestration, LLM observability/monitoring, fine-tuning, or building AI platforms.
