The SVP of Software Development for the Pluralsight Skills product will have direct responsibility for the delivery of the product line, the infrastructure that enables the delivery of that product set, and in-application support for customers with internal processes and procedures to ensure that our customers are delighted. Reporting directly to the CTO, you will have great visibility into business objectives and will be relied upon to prioritize technical engineering objectives and workstreams to meet those business objectives. We’re looking for someone with experience building a SaaS product, designing and communicating internal engineering processes, and leading leaders while promoting collaboration, an intense customer focus, and strong culture of accountability.

Who you are committed to being:

  • A compassionate and talented engineer

  • Someone with an eye for seeing where and when technical decisions improve our product roadmaps

  • A leader with the emotional intelligence and maturity to lead highly capable direct reports and a natural ability to inspire and create connection with team members at all levels

  • A thoughtful and artful communicator

  • Able to organize complex deliverables into actionable projects

  • Someone with enormous drive to build the best product

What you’ll own:

You will lead a globally distributed (US / APAC / Europe) organization of 200+ software engineers and senior engineering managers working on our Skills product. Responsibilities include:

  • Product Delivery: Translate product strategy into an executable technology roadmap and guide the org through consistent, scalable, and reliable delivery as we evolve our cloud architecture using AWS-native technologies

  • Product Excellence: Oversee the technology and components to delight our users, improve quality, and reduce the cost of support and maintenance

  • Reliable Experience: Ensure your product meets or exceeds contracted SLAs

  • Talent Development: Champion the growth, and personal development of hundreds of engineers

  • Strategic Partnerships: Enable a direct and deep relationship with product managers, sales, and account managers

  • Product Strategy: Inform our evolving product strategy by bringing technical perspective to the conversation

  • Product Champion: Strategically leverage Pluralsight’s own products across your organization

  • Org Effectiveness: Build alignment through and across the org and teams while promoting accountability, transparency, and innovation; optimize systems, tools and processes to increase speed and quality; track and report engineering metrics tied to company KPIs

Experience you’ll need:

15+ years as a software engineer (including extensive experience as leader of leaders) working on large-scale technical projects have prepared you for this role. Technically trained, inquisitive, and with excellent communication and management skills, you care about quality engineering, understand business needs, and value empathy. You are ready to work with the CTO, business and product leaders, and cross-functional leaders across the company who will look to you to get things done.

  • Extensive experience with shipping and operating cloud services, with technical depth to be active in decisions about the large architectural investments

  • Hands-on software development experience and credibility with teams of hands-on engineers

  • Experience with software methodologies and development tools for project management and issue tracking

  • Diagramming and development of presentations and maps and specifications for developers

  • Experience with content production tools, terms, and related technical and legal concerns

  • Experience with API management, product instrumentation, analytics, continuous development and integration, and security / audit concerns

  • Experience with UX and UI concepts

  • Demonstrated experience leading and coaching senior leaders and globally distributed teams

  • Strong cross-team and cross-department partnership skills for negotiating smart agreements
