Keeping Pinterest Employees safe is our top priority. The Sr. Manager, Protective Services is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of Pinterest's executives and key personnel, both during daily operations and at special events. This role involves strategic planning, team leadership, and the implementation of security protocols to protect company assets, employees, and operations. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Global Security this role requires a strategic thinker to manage risks, strong operational security and the ability to balance physical security requirements with strong fiscal discipline and alignment with business needs. This leader will serve as a key GSS leadership team member and will partner cross-functionally to address risks.

What you’ll do:

  • Leadership: Lead the protective service and event security team and program. Proactively coordinate with various cross functional teams for dependencies, requirements and activities. Adhere to Global Security standards, safety protocols and industry standards. This role may be required to advance, lead or support protective service details.
  • Protective Services Operations: Develop, document and implement security strategies to safeguard executives during domestic and international travel, at Pinterest premises, and during public appearances. This may include oversight of the EXEC risk assessment programs, vendor program solutions, transportation security solutions and vendor management for CEO travel requirements.
  • Event Security Operations: Design and implement a global event security operations program, partnering with key stakeholders, ensuring the safety of attendees and executives. Introduce processes that include pre-event and post-event assessments to identify best practices and areas for improvement.
  • Policy Development and Compliance: Develop, document, implement, and maintain standards, procedures, and guidelines that support business objectives, operations and regulatory requirements across the Protective Services and Event Security program. Develop a consistent and repeatable process for incident reporting, risk assessments, and metrics to be delivered to senior management. Follow global escalation paths for complex decision making. Develop and implement a vendor QBR program.
  • Incident Response and Crisis Management: Establish a Protective Services and Event Security emergency-incident response/crisis management program. Serve as the primary lead for any protective services related investigations and coordinate as necessary with law enforcement and local authorities.
  • Travel Security Program Engagement: Partner with key stakeholders, employees, and vendors to drive awareness, compliance, and continuous improvement of the global travel security program, ensuring safe travel practices and effective risk mitigation for all business travel.
  • Partnerships and Coordination with Industry Leaders & Law Enforcement: Enhance public/private partnerships across Pinterest locations. Liaise with local authorities and security personnel to enhance protective measures.

What we’re looking for:

  • Progressive Security Leadership: 10+ years of experience in security management, including a proven track record of leading protective services and event security operations.
  • Strategic Mindset: Strong strategic planning skills with a willingness to think differently than "established practices" and championing new ideas and solutions that align with Pinterest risk profiles.
  • Excellent Communicator: Outstanding leadership and communication skills, capable of briefing leaders across an organization and managing cross-functional teams.
  • Cultural Competence: Experience in partnering and indirectly leading global teams, with sensitivity to cultural differences and regulatory requirements.
  • Incident Management & Crisis Management: Demonstrated expertise in crisis management and emergency response, with a track record of decisive and successful decision making skills in high-pressure situations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

In-Office Requirement Statement:

  • This role will need to be in the LA or SF office for in-person collaboration 5 times per week.
