100 million+ free memberships for fans who may not be ready to pay just yet, and
25 million+ paid memberships on Patreon today.
We're continuing to invest heavily in building the best creator platform with the best team in the creator economy and are looking for an Editorial Strategist to support our mission.
This role is based in New York or San Francisco and open to those who are able to be in-office 2 days per week on a hybrid work model.
About the Team
The Communications and Experiential team includes PR, Internal Communications, Employer Brand, and Events and sits within the larger Marketing & Comms org. Together, we amplify the best of Patreon by creating moments that matter and messages that resonate with creators and fans. We do that by crafting compelling narratives that share our brand’s unique POV, producing high craft events, and connecting with audiences who influence the perception of Patreon. We’re looking for an editorial wizard to join us as the Editorial Strategist and bring consistency and high craft to all of the surfaces that our brand shows up in front of key audiences including creators, fans, investors, and media.
The Editorial Strategist will report to the Head of Communications & Experiential, who you’ll work closely with to translate Patreon’s brand narrative and operationalize a cohesive editorial strategy.
About the Role
As we scale our marketing, product, and communications efforts, a strong editorial strategy plays a critical role in telling our story, inspiring creators, engaging fans, and building trust with investors and partners. We are looking for an Editorial Strategist to develop and drive Patreon’s holistic editorial strategy across all of our key external channels.
In this role, you’ll set the vision and framework for how Patreon shows up across our own platform, web, social, video, and investor-facing channels. You’ll partner closely with the owners of each channel (from the Website to YouTube to Social and more), ensuring our content is consistent, compelling, and reflective of our brand & values. This is a highly collaborative and strategic role, blending editorial sensibility, brand storytelling, and operational excellence.
In this role, you will:
Define and own Patreon’s content/editorial strategy – Establish the overarching narrative and guidelines for how we show up across website, social, community, investor site, and video.
Create frameworks and systems – Build content calendars, taxonomies, governance models, and workflows to ensure consistency, efficiency, and quality across channels.
Partner with channel owners – Collaborate with leads across Website, Product Marketing, Social, Patreon for Creators, Investor Relations, YouTube, and Community to align messaging, optimize performance, and maintain a unified voice.
Act as a channel owner – including day to day management of the Patreon brand page as both a content strategist and channel leader.
Elevate storytelling craft – Ensure all content ladders up to Patreon’s brand positioning and values, while tailoring execution to the needs of each channel and audience.
Drive performance and insights – Work with SEO team to set content KPIs (engagement, reach, conversion, SEO, etc.) and continuously improve based on data and audience feedback.
Orchestrate content campaigns – Partner with Brand and Product Marketing to align multi-channel campaigns, ensuring narratives are coherent and reinforce business goals.
Champion creators and fans – Ensure our content highlights the voices of creators and fans, embedding authenticity and cultural relevance into everything we publish.
