Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
We are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to design, build, and operate cloud-native services on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). You will own service architecture and delivery for high-availability, high-throughput systems, with a strong emphasis on API design, automation, observability, and security. The ideal candidate brings deep experience with Java/Python microservices, Kubernetes, CI/CD, IaC, and cloud networking/security. You will collaborate across security, operations/SRE, product, and customer-facing teams; mentor engineers; and drive roadmaps that improve reliability, performance, and developer velocity.
You will lead initiatives that integrate with core OCI services, enhance our code-signing and software supply chain posture, and expand automation to reduce toil and improve consistency. Success in this role means delivering resilient services (meeting SLOs), accelerating safe releases, and championing best practices for secure, compliant operations in a global enterprise environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- 6–10 years professional experience building and operating distributed systems or cloud services.
- Strong in Java (J2EE) and/or Python; expertise building RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Containers and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes (incl. ingress, service mesh basics).
- CI/CD: Git, Jenkins (or similar) with automated build/test/deploy and rollout strategies.
- Cloud automation and IaC: Terraform, Ansible; solid scripting (bash/shell, Python).
- Observability: metrics, logging, tracing; production troubleshooting and performance tuning.
- Cloud networking and security: VPC/VCN, load balancing, firewalls/security lists, IAM, TLS/encryption.
- Experience with Oracle Autonomous Database (ADB) or similar managed databases.
- Strong communication, ownership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on with OCI services (Compute, VCN, IAM, OKE, LB, Logging/Monitoring, Object Storage).
- Advanced API design (OpenAPI, versioning, schema evolution), API gateways, authn/z patterns.
- Secure software supply chain experience: code signing, KMS, secrets management, SBOM/SLSA.
- Deeper automation in Python/Go/Java; robust bash; configuration management best practices.
- Experience with eventing/messaging and caching (e.g., Kafka, Redis) and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with enterprise compliance, audit logging, and change management.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
- Architect, design, implement, and operate robust, scalable cloud services with high availability, reliability, performance, and security.
- Design, develop, and own APIs; monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize for latency, throughput, and cost; automate deployment and testing via CI/CD.
- Define and drive technical strategy, roadmaps, and deep OCI integrations, including secure code-signing workflows and cloud-native automation tooling.
- Automate infrastructure and operational tasks using Python, shell, Terraform, and Ansible to reduce toil and improve consistency.
- Build and maintain observability (metrics/logs/traces), runbooks, and automated remediation to improve MTTR and overall operational excellence.
- Collaborate with security, operations/SRE, networking, product, and customer teams; influence outcomes beyond the immediate team.
- Mentor and guide engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on technical leadership; elevate engineering standards.
- Partner with customers and internal stakeholders as a subject matter expert on container platforms and cloud services; support complex troubleshooting.
- Work effectively with infrastructure, application development, testing, and release teams to ship high-quality software.
- Identify risks early, escalate issues in solution design and delivery, and ensure adherence to SLAs, security, and compliance requirements.
- Participate in a sustainable on-call rotation; drive post-incident improvements and preventative measures.
