The Opportunity
As a Principal Cloud Database Architect, you will act as a trusted technical authority for customers modernising their data estates.
You will:
- Assess complex Oracle and non-Oracle database environments
- Lead MongoDB-to-Oracle migration strategies
- Architect production-grade cloud deployments across OCI, Azure, AWS and GCP
- Design resilient, high-availability database platforms
- Guide AI integration into transactional and analytical workloads
- Remove technical blockers during high-stakes migrations
- Translate field experience into repeatable best practices and architectural patterns
This role blends deep hands-on engineering with executive-level technical advisory.
You will be expected to operate independently, exercise strong judgement, and take ownership of customer outcomes.
Required Experience
We are looking for senior, proven practitioners with:
- 8–15+ years experience in enterprise database engineering or architecture
- Deep expertise in Oracle Database (SQL, PL/SQL; performance tuning; HA concepts)
- Experience with MongoDB or other document databases
- Proven experience migrating workloads between database platforms
- Strong experience migrating to cloud (OCI preferred; AWS, Azure or GCP valuable)
- Linux proficiency
- Scripting ability (Python, Bash or JavaScript)
- Strong understanding of JSON-based architectures and API-driven systems
- 3+ years in a customer-facing role (consulting, architecture, pre-sales, field engineering)
Highly Desirable
- Experience with Oracle Autonomous Database
- Experience with Oracle APEX or low-code application development
- Experience with high availability and disaster recovery architectures
- Familiarity with Snowflake or PostgreSQL
- Exposure to AI/ML integration with database platforms
- Experience in large-scale production modernisation programmes

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only
CA: Hiring Range in CAD from: $90,300 to $140,300 per annum.
US: Hiring Range in USD from: $82,500 to $199,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position.
