Summary:

We are searching for a Sr. Manager, User Experience Design to lead a centralized and high-performing user experience design team that supports a broad set of OCI product areas. Drive design strategy, operational excellence, and cross-organizational alignment to deliver clear, intuitive, and trustworthy cloud experiences at scale. This role requires strong communication and collaboration skills, the ability to coach and develop designers, and the leadership presence to guide partner teams through complex design decisions. Consulting experience is a bonus given the ambiguity and breadth of the work.

As a Senior Manager for the OCI Design organization, you will provide end-to-end leadership across multiple surfaces, workflows, and service domains. You’ll partner with product, and engineering teams to define design direction, improve usability, and ensure consistency across the Console. You will manage a team of designers, establish design processes that support efficiency and quality, and act as a trusted advisor to teams across OCI. Success in this role requires clarity of communication, sound judgment, and a strong track record of delivering design outcomes through people leadership rather than individual contribution.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $118,300 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Core Responsibilities:

• Design Leadership: Guide the strategy, execution, and delivery of high-quality user experiences across multiple OCI product areas. Ensure cohesive design direction, alignment with design system standards, and a consistent level of craft across your team’s work.

• People Management: Coach, mentor, and develop designers at all levels, with a focus on raising design quality, strengthening design judgment, and supporting career growth. Provide regular feedback, conduct performance evaluations, and build strong onboarding practices for new team members.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product, engineering, and other design teams to drive end-to-end execution. Facilitate alignment across organizations and manage relationships with partner teams who rely on centralized design support.

• Operational Excellence: Manage team planning, prioritization, and workflow processes to ensure designers can deliver high-quality work efficiently. Build mechanisms for resource allocation, capacity planning, and predictable delivery across a dynamic and growing portfolio.

• Strategic Influence: Communicate design decisions, tradeoffs, and rationale clearly to senior leaders. Represent the design perspective in product reviews, roadmap discussions, and high-impact cross-OCI initiatives.

• Change Enablement: Help partner teams adopt new design standards, navigate transitions to Redwood and AI-driven experiences, and understand the value and implications of design choices.

• Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain quality bars for design outputs. Review work regularly, provide clear critique, and ensure designs meet user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.

• Recruiting and Talent Development: Attract, hire, and retain top design talent. Partner with recruiting and design leadership to evaluate candidates, shape role definitions, and support organizational growth across the OCI design function.

Core Qualifications:

• 10 years in UX or Product Design, with 3 years managing designers or leading cross-disciplinary teams

• Proven experience leading design teams that support multiple product groups or service domains, ideally in enterprise software or cloud environments

• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across product, engineering, and senior leadership audiences

• Demonstrated ability to coach designers and elevate the overall level of craft, judgment, and user-centered thinking

• Experience working in fast-moving, ambiguous problem spaces, with the ability to bring structure, clarity, and momentum

• Background partnering with research, content design, and design systems to deliver cohesive user experiences

• Familiarity with consulting-style engagement models, including discovery, stakeholder alignment, and presenting insights and recommendations

• Strong operational skills in planning, resource allocation, and managing multiple simultaneous workstreams

• Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, design systems, and accessibility best practices

• Experience scaling design practices or contributing to an enterprise design organization’s evolution

• BS or MS in HCI, Design, or related field, or equivalent experience
