Oracle Java Platform Group is looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic student advocate to join our Developer Relations team and spread the power of modern Java, engage with the global student community, and create impactful direct-to-student educational resources to help students master Java. You will be responsible for engaging and empowering the next generation of developers by promoting the use of modern Java in academic and student communities. You will serve as a bridge between students, the broader Java community, and our engineering team. You will create direct-to-student educational resources and drive initiatives to help students excel in Java development. Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only
US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

Engage directly with CS Students: Act as a point of contact for students interested in Java development. Create and manage student outreach programs, including workshops, hackathons, webinars, and meetups.
- Amplify Java’s role in computer science education and capture student interest through speaking at universities, coding bootcamps, workshops, conferences, livestreams, student hackathons, online forums, and other events.
- Build Community: Build and maintain relationships with university student clubs, computer science departments, and student organizations to encourage adoption of Java in academic settings. Build and nurture community spaces, support and mentor learners, and encourage peer-to-peer collaboration in forums like Discord and GitHub. Launch and maintain programs like student ambassador networks, hackathons, and community challenges.
- Create a Social Media & Public Presence: Represent the company at student events and on social media platforms, creating a presence within the student developer community. Engage with students and answer questions via social platforms like Discord, YouTube, GitHub, LinkedIn, and Reddit.
Inspire and educate new Java developers: Create accessible, beginner-friendly content—tutorials, blog posts, sample projects, videos, and learning modules that bring the language to life.
- Create engaging and high-quality educational content for students including tutorials, videos, blog posts, sample apps, and interactive learning experiences. Ensure content is aligned with the needs and learning preferences of students.
- Support adoption of modern Java features (e.g., records, pattern matching, virtual threads) in a way that’s approachable for those early in their journey.
- Lead Workshops & Training: Create and lead online and in-person coding workshops, tech talks, and training sessions focused on Java and software development best practices.
Be the voice of early Java learners inside Oracle: Bring feedback and insights from the community to our engineering, docs, and developer experience teams.
- Create a feedback loop by collecting feedback from students on Java tools and technologies and share it with the development team to improve future products or features.
- Advocate for student-focused tools, resources, and initiatives that help students build with modern Java and ensure resources are accessible and beginner-friendly. Work closely with internal teams to ensure student feedback is considered for future Java initiatives.
- Monitor Trends to stay up to date with emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks in the Java ecosystem. Share insights and recommend new approaches or technologies to students.
