The Container Instances team develops the Oracle Container Instances platform—empowering customers to seamlessly run containerized applications on serverless, compute-optimized infrastructure. Our platform is designed for speed, flexibility, and simplicity, supporting use cases from APIs and web applications to CI/CD jobs, data processing, automation, and dev/test environments.

Role Overview:
We seek a dynamic Senior Manager to lead the Container Instances engineering team. In this role, you’ll drive the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of Container Instances, collaborating across OCI to ensure our platform meets the highest standards of reliability, security, and performance. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of the Oracle Container Instances platform.
  • Own the end-to-end engineering lifecycle, from requirements gathering and architecture to development, testing, deployment, and customer support.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management to shape vision, roadmap, and feature prioritization.
  • Drive initiatives to improve the reliability, scalability, and security of the platform.
  • Build and foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning within the team.
  • Champion best practices in cloud-native development, DevOps, and container orchestration.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders, including SRE, Security, and Support teams, to deliver seamless customer experiences.
  • Attract, hire, and retain top engineering talent.
  • Monitor and analyze service metrics, and continuously drive operational improvements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in software development, ideally building large-scale distributed systems or cloud services.
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership or management role, with a proven track record of building and scaling high-performing teams.
  • Deep understanding of container technologies (Docker, OCI runtime), serverless platforms, and cloud computing concepts.
  • Experience designing and operating mission-critical, high-availability systems.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, Go, Python, C++) and experience with modern CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with virtualization and/or container orchestration systems.
  • Experience leading teams in an agile environment.
  • Prior experience with customer-facing cloud products.
