The OCI Dataservices Engineering is responsible for a critical database service used by other public OCI services.

We are looking for a Principal software engineer who is ready to tackle new challenges in designing, implementing, and maintaining highly available and scalable services for managing this key database service. Help us build automation tools for managing our large and fast-growing fleet of database service that underpins other OCI services. As a member of the OCI software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with automating the deployment, operational management & maintenance of a Tier-0 OCI database service.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. About You:

  • You are a lead cloud engineer with a proven track record of delivering high-scale, high-impact solutions
  • You are obsessed with the customer, always exceeding expectations

  • You are a disciplined engineer who understands the importance of high standards, never satisfied with mediocrity and constantly striving for excellence
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity in a chaotic and fluid environment
  • You are passionate about technology and are not afraid to defend your opinions or position with peers/superiors

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment, and lead peers and Jr/Sr Engineers
  • Strong grasp of Computer Science concepts (data structures, algorithms, and programming paradigms)
  • Proficient in Java or Python
  • Proficient in Oracle Database Engineering
  • You are experienced at building highly available services, possessing knowledge of common service-oriented design patterns and service-to-service communication protocols
  • Experience with production operations and best practices for putting quality code in production and troubleshoot issues when they arise
  • Able to effectively communicate technical ideas verbally and in writing (technical proposals, design specs, architecture diagrams, and presentations)

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience building control plane/data plane solutions for cloud native companies
  • Experience in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving performance issues in complex environments
