Job Description
Oracle Data Center Operations (DCO) has an opportunity for a Technical Writer who will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and documenting Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) processes. You will work with technical experts across OCI to standardize processes across OCI’s data center footprint, including editing content for readability and accuracy, evaluating and incorporating feedback to iterate on published processes, and carrying out administrative tasks in our knowledge management system.
Responsibilities
You need to be highly motivated, self-driven, and have a combination of strong analytical, communication, and project skills. You will also:
- Work with data center technicians, engineers, program managers, and other teams to create new and edit existing documentation.
- Deliver accurate documentation related to physical cloud infrastructure, cloud software products, security, and compliance.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure consistency in our writing process workflows and style guidelines.
- Be involved in strategic initiatives related to knowledge base tools and global best practices.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to create, edit, and maintain knowledge articles that are used by our data center technicians.
- Review and audit documentation from subject matter experts to ensure consistency in appearance and content.
- Seek feedback on documentation to identify improvement opportunities.
- Assist on special projects or activities as needed.
- Contribute to strategic and functional planning for technical content development.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 to 12 years of technical content creation and editing experience with a focus on runbooks and standard operating procedures.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a writing/communications field, a certificate in technical writing/content strategy, or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Significant experience building commercial, enterprise-class technical content from scratch, with a demonstrated track record of implementing innovative approaches to technical writing challenges.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Exceptional presentation and facilitation skills in English.
- Proficiency with the knowledge management lifecycle for document creation, reviews, and updates.
- Experience working across global teams and creating content for a global audience.
- Demonstrated usage of industry-standard style and writing guidelines (for example: Microsoft Style Guide/MSTP, Simplified Technical English ASD-STE100).
- Working knowledge of XML, HTML, CSS, and other web-based code related to the delivery of written and visual content.
- Experience with knowledge base and ticketing systems, such as Confluence and Jira.
- Strong team player with outstanding communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working in a fast-paced and continuously evolving environment.
- Ability to work independently and lead others during projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Some experience editing graphics and videos.
- Knowledge of cloud infrastructure concepts and technologies.
- Knowledge of cloud data center operations or experience with industrial, manufacturing, or medical devices.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards such as NIST or PCI.

US: Hiring Range in USD from $37.55 to $85.63 per hour; from: $78,100 to $178,100 per annum. May be eligible for equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
