Job Description

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Senior Director of Data Center Design to lead the strategy, development, and execution of our global data center design initiatives. This role is responsible for guiding a team of engineering and design professionals in creating innovative, efficient, and sustainable data center solutions that support the rapid growth of OCI’s AI and cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in large-scale data center design, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to drive collaboration across cross-functional and external partner teams.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design strategy for multiple large-scale, concurrent data center projects worldwide, ensuring alignment with OCI’s business and technical objectives.
  • Oversee the review and approval of colocation partner designs, ensuring compliance with Oracle’s performance, resiliency, and sustainability requirements.
  • Drive innovation in design methodologies to enable rapid deployment, cost efficiency, and long-term scalability.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate capacity and performance needs into effective technical design solutions.
  • Present design strategies, project updates, and risk assessments to senior executives and decision-makers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (construction, operations, networking, sustainability, finance, etc.) to ensure seamless integration of design into overall project execution.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, risk analyses, and quality reviews to validate design approaches.
  • Champion sustainable design practices, promoting energy efficiency and green building standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with engineering firms, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Mentor and develop design team members, fostering technical excellence and career growth.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in data center design, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.
  • Proven success delivering large-scale, mission-critical data center projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, MEP design, and data center operational requirements.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, industry codes, and global standards governing data center design.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency with design and project management software/tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, global environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Business Administration.
  • Experience with hyperscale cloud and AI data center infrastructure.
  • Expertise in sustainable design practices, renewable energy integration, and carbon reduction strategies.
  • Strong vendor management experience, including oversight of external engineering and architectural firms.
  • Background in both greenfield builds and retrofit/expansion projects.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $161,700 to $338,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

10. Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
