Job Description

Oracle is looking for a senior Electronics Engineer to join a dedicated team responsible for designing and supporting power solutions for our server architectures. This includes the development and sustaining engineering of AC/DC power supplies, BBUs, BBU shelves, and rack-mounted PDUs, particularly those based on the Orv3 standard. The role is expanding to include strategic assessments of future data center needs, with a focus on recommending power architectures for high-power racks ranging from 200 kW to 1.5 MW. The successful candidate will be an expert in power electronics, capable of handling requirement ambiguity, performing complex root cause analysis, and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Recommend and design rack power architectures to meet future data center requirements, with a focus on high-power density.
  • Design & Development: Lead the design and development of new power products, including power supplies, BBUs, and PDUs.
  • Testing: Design and build specialized test equipment as required.
  • Advanced Analysis: Perform complex root cause analysis on hardware problems and recommend corrective actions. Lead lab debug sessions.
  • Validation: Conduct hands-on testing and characterization of power hardware, validating the interaction and compatibility of power products with Oracle server architectures.
  • Electrical Expertise: Apply a deep understanding of building regulations, grounding requirements, and the characteristics of TT, TN, and IT systems. Design power whips for high-current applications and apply knowledge of NEC derating requirements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal firmware/software teams to implement system-level diagnostics and collaborate with various external vendors and development companies.
  • Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers, sharing expertise and guiding their professional development.
  • Documentation: Contribute to the creation of detailed documentation, engineering reports, and test plans.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: BSEE with at least 10 years of power electronic engineering experience, or MSEE with at least 7 years of experience.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of switch mode power supplies and rack-level Battery Backup systems.
    • Experience with I2C/PMBUS communication bus and both Analog and Digital PWM control architectures.
    • Proficiency in using common lab equipment, including bench power supplies, current probes, AC sources, oscilloscopes, and high-voltage probes.
    • Expertise in 50V and 800V DC delivery systems.
    • Working knowledge of C++ and Python.
    • A basic knowledge of network communication is beneficial.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to handle requirement ambiguity.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
    • Effective time management skills.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $97,500 to $199,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
