Job Description

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 6+ years of software engineering or related experience.

The Database Access group at Oracle is responsible for providing functionally comprehensive, reliable, high performance, secure and highly available access to the Oracle Database in the cloud as well as on premise from various client drivers, including proprietary, standards-based and open-source drivers as well as open source frameworks and ORMs. The group works on the high level drivers, the Oracle Call Interface (OCI) layer, the Oracle wire protocol (TTC) and highly scalable server side protocol handlers that together connect an application written in any language securely to the Oracle Database Server to provide full featured access to the Oracle Database. The group also delivers solutions that enable databse application developers to build highly available, performant, secure, and scalable applications to the Oracle database.

Oracle is looking for a highly talented and motivated individual to develop and contribute to latest AI technologies, open source drivers and tools for Oracle Database in order to enhance our product offering and attract new developers to use Oracle Database. Responsibilities

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Research and evaluate latest technologies in various areas including AI technologies, open source, cloud, and databases. Enhance and contribute to Python, Node.js, PHP, Rust, and R open source drivers and frameworks for Oracle database. Ensure the full functionality and performance of Oracle database can be leveraged by the open source developer community.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
