The Senior Manager, Production Health & Safety US and Canada (UCAN), will lead a high-impact team of health and safety professionals supporting Netflix Film Production throughout the region. This role will be comfortable leading through complexity and uncertainty, contributing to the overall strategy, initiatives, and processes that go beyond specific title assignments. Your leadership style focuses on culture, diversity, and inclusion, and you prioritize your team’s growth and development. You can balance both the art and the science of production health & safety for a creative business and understand what data is meaningful to measure.

As part of the leadership team, you will excel at engaging with creative business leaders and working collaboratively with our regional production safety leads to support the department’s approach to Production Health & Safety. Success means we can effectively minimize harm and disruption, enable smart risk-taking, and meet our regulatory compliance and union requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of production health & safety professionals that support film production in UCAN.

  • Mentor and actively identify opportunities for growth and development for your team.

  • Implement a health & safety strategy and culture that fits our business and empowering risk ownership and informed decision making.

  • Partner with Legal, Studio/Production, and Content Risk Management teams to align on engagement, support, and resources to support your team’s film productions.

  • Engage with and influence senior leadership and decision makers to promote health and safety as an integral element of management decisions and workforce planning.

  • Assist in reviewing and interpreting injury/illness information, learnings, and industry data to ensure our health & safety readiness/compliance and identify trends for program development.

  • Manage all aspects of health and safety on assigned productions.

  • Collaborate with crew Department Heads, internal/external production leadership, and regulatory agencies to effectively resolve issues.

  • Conduct and/or manage investigations of incidents and accidents, ensuring proper documentation and root cause analysis are conducted to prevent future occurrences.

  • Help identify and build relationships with vendors and safety professionals in emerging markets.

  • Strengthen our industry positioning and engagement (AMPTP, CSATF, etc.), keeping the company well-informed on new legislation, industry and union issues, trends, and resources.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership experience (10+ years) in health & safety in the entertainment industry;

  • Demonstrated ability to simplify complex health and safety requirements and processes to enable them to be easily understood and implemented

  • Experience with a risk-based approach (as opposed to solely compliance focus) to health and safety management

  • Advanced education is preferred, such as a degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Studies, Physical Sciences, related major, or equivalent experience

  • Extensive experience managing complex projects across multiple locations

  • Experience in partnering and engaging with risk owners to fully understand safety considerations within an overall decision-making process

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Chartered IOSH Membership (CMIOSH), OSHA 30, or other related certification is a plus.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $210,000 - $400,000.
