We are searching for a visionary Staff SDET to lead and innovate our automated testing landscape for both production software and our extensive internal toolset. This role is pivotal in propelling our software's testability, robustness, and performance beyond current standards. The Staff SDET role is expected to bring a blend of leadership, technical expertise, and strategic vision to our testing efforts. The right candidate for this position will spearhead the development of cutting-edge automation tools and frameworks, significantly enhancing the effectiveness of our manual testing processes. The goal is to set new benchmarks for the quality of our software products and tools while ensuring seamless compatibility with our legacy content.
A successful Staff SDET has good time management, strong organizational skills, and communication skills and possesses skills to advocate for best practices in software design, development, and testing, with the ability to upgrade their technical skills in constantly changing technology.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Strategize and lead the automation testing direction, focusing on scalability, efficiency, and innovation within our complex software ecosystem.
- Drive the design and implementation of advanced test strategies that cover new project features, ensure backward compatibility, and evaluate product performance comprehensively.
- Elevate and maintain our test automation infrastructure across multiple platforms, including but not limited to Mobile (Android, iOS), Desktop (Mac, PC, Linux), and custom Unity Editor tools.
- Foster collaboration with QA, design, and development teams to enhance automated test plans, criteria, and coverage.
- Lead the transformation of bug reports into robust automated tests, streamlining the identification and resolution of issues within continuous testing environments.
- Spearhead the development of automated nightly tests, generating detailed reports and insights for strategic review by the leadership team.
- Act as a critical liaison with cross-functional teams, demonstrating exceptional adaptability and foresight in a fast-paced development environment.
- Champion a culture of excellence in automated testing, communication, and collaboration within and beyond the testing team.
Skills and abilities:
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage complex workloads independently.
- Advanced expertise in risk management, with a knack for identifying and resolving potential issues in product features and tools.
- A strong advocate for automated testing with a passion for innovation in testing methodologies and technologies.
- Proficient in C#, with an in-depth understanding of Unity and the Unity Test Tools suite.
- Experience with additional scripting languages (e.g., Python, Groovy) and familiarity with automation suites (Jenkins preferred).
- A commitment to staying abreast of the latest trends and advancements in technology and automated testing.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Over 7 years of experience in software testing and development, preferably within the gaming industry, demonstrating a clear progression of skills and responsibilities.
- A deep passion for game testing, development, and design, with a track record of leading projects to successful completion.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Our core hours are 10:00am to 6:00pm cst, which means you should be available for meetings etc. during this time.

Salary range description
Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $100,000 - $720,000.
