As a Vocational & Rehabilitation Specialist, you'll provide timely and accurate vocational services to all Mutual of Omaha Group Insurance teams and external customers, performing rehabilitation claim management and case administration functions to expedite the return of STD and LTD claimants to employment.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:
- Estimated Salary (Levels have variable responsibilities and qualifications):
- Vocational & Rehabilitation Specialist: $66,500 - $86,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.
- Vocational & Rehabilitation Sr. Speciaist: Minimum: $74,000 - $95,500 plus annual bonus opportunity.

- Regular associates working 40 hours a week can earn up to 15 days of vacation each year.
- Regular associates receive 11 paid holidays in 2024, which includes 2 floating holidays that are added to your prorated personal time to be used at your discretion.
- Regular associates are provided sick leave through the use of personal time. Associates working 40 hours a week can receive up to 40 hours of personal time in 2024, which is prorated based on the start date. Additionally you will receive two floating holidays in 2024 by way of personal time that may be used at your discretion.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Manage an active caseload of vocational referrals, providing proactive return-to-work services, job search assistance, and vocational assessments.
- Conduct comprehensive vocational assessments and develop well-defined action plans supported by cost-benefit analyses.
- Offer vocational opinions throughout the life cycle of short-term and long-term disability claims.
- Communicate with claimants to present rehabilitation programs, perform transferable skills assessments, motivate participation in rehabilitation activities, and coordinate related matters.
- Engage with policyholders to analyze claimants' jobs, determine necessary worksite accommodations, and discuss return-to-work options.
- Coordinate rehabilitation costs with various insurance carriers, private and government funding sources, and authorize financial expenditures for services, training, and accommodations.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- Master’s degree in vocational counseling or a related field.
- Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) professional certification.
- Prior experience working in Vocational Rehabilitation services, counseling or providing Vocational Support in Group Disability Benefits (STD/LTD), policies, and insurance principles.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, ICD definitions, and disability management practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with effective negotiation skills.
- Minimal travel requirements for potential business needs.

- Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.
PREFERRED:
- Certified Vocational Evaluator (CVE) or Certified Disability Management Specialist will be considered.
