Network Support Technician I (San Antonio Metro Area)

Systeem Medical, a division of Medsphere Systems Corporation, is seeking a Network Support Technician 1 to join our team supporting the Metro San Antonio TX area. In this role the successful candidate will provide remote support for network environments, while occasionally performing onsite client visits for hardware installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance. This role is ideal for a technician with strong networking knowledge who is comfortable handling a small amount of fieldwork when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide remote technical support for networking equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and VPNs.
- Monitor network performance, perform remote diagnostics, resolve connectivity issues, and escalate complex issues as needed.
- Handle basic remote server administration tasks such as DHCP, DNS, and Active Directory troubleshooting.
- Perform onsite support (approximately 20% of the time) for hardware installations, cabling, Wi-Fi site surveys, and physical troubleshooting.
- Assist with firewall and security device configuration remotely.
- Maintain up-to-date network diagrams, documentation, and ticket records.
- Collaborate with network engineers and project managers to assist in network deployments and upgrades.
- Ensure all work meets company standards for security, performance, and documentation.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years’ experience in IT support, with at least 1 year focused on networking.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, Wi-Fi).
- Hands-on experience supporting major network brands (e.g., Cisco, Ubiquiti, Meraki, SonicWall).
- Comfort with remote troubleshooting tools (RMM platforms, VPN access, command line diagnostics).
- Ability to perform basic onsite tasks: hardware installation, Ethernet cabling, Wi-Fi testing.
- Strong customer service skills and professional communication.
- Valid driver's license for occasional travel to local sites.
Preferred:
- CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent certification.
- Familiarity with firewall setup and VPN troubleshooting.
- Experience working with MSPs or supporting multiple clients.
Work Environment:
- Primarily remote; travel for local onsite work approximately once per week or as needed.
- Occasional lifting of equipment (up to 50 lbs) and light physical tasks onsite.
