Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Operational Excellence Lead to join the Data Center Power & Control Division in Canonsburg, PA. This position is responsible for supporting the lean transformation and daily management initiatives by ensuring strategies are implemented, and principles/practices/tools are incorporated into the culture and processes under transformation. Proactively identifies and drives continuous improvement opportunities to enhance safety, customer value, quality, delivery performance, lead time, business growth, margin expansion, and inventory management.
Main Responsibilities
Support the organization in implementing lean transformation and daily management across the facility:
- Proactively seeks and drives continuous improvement opportunities to enhance safety, customer value, quality, deliver performance, lead time, business growth, margin expansion, and inventory management.
- Responsible for proposing integration projects, funding requests, and providing ongoing support through implementation.
- Optimize materials flows and replenishment strategies across the shopfloor and warehouses.
- Implements tactical strategies to achieve the desired vision
- Executes against long and short-term objectives to support the Plant’s KPIs and goals.
- Works with necessary site personnel to identify, address, and eliminate process-related obstacles.
- Assists in the change of systems/processes as required, to support the lean initiatives.
- Utilizes value stream mapping techniques to design optimal information, material, and flow methodology.
Acts as a change agent to bring improvements to the overall plant through active support, facilitation, and leadership of Kaizen events:
- Coaches and follows up on pre-work and post-work standards.
- Participates in co-facilitating or facilitating events and projects, and “just do it”.
- Participates in Gemba walks and coaches employees on continuous improvement tools.
- Helps update and maintain visual performance tools, including tier boards.
- Creates and implements standard work while teaching/coaching leaders to do the same.
Supports activities needed to incorporate lean transformation and daily management into the Plant culture:
- Assists in identifying ongoing training needs.
- Drives Lean culture and behaviors through coaching employees and following the Legrand Way.
- Performs the Legrand Way RADAR to identify focus areas to improve in lean culture.
- Coaches and advocates for the Legrand Values to all employees.
Tracks improvements made to ensure that changes are effective and sustainable:
- Audits the areas after improvements are implemented.
- Monitors and reports on key metrics.
- Continually updates labor standards / make spans.
- Provides regular updates and report-outs of current projects to varying levels of the organization.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in a continuous improvement role in a plant environment
- Demonstrated expertise in applying and coaching Toyota Production System (TPS) and Lean fundamentals, including 5S, Standardized Work (SW), Problem-Solving Process (PSP), Kaizen, Daily Management (DM), Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Total Productive Improvement (TPI), and Poka-Yoke
- Demonstrated knowledge of warehouse and logistics processes
- An operations or Engineering background is preferred.
- Experience in a world-class lean environment is preferred.
- Experience developing and maintaining engineered labor standards utilizing a predetermined motion time system is preferred.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering or related technical field. (Equivalent education/experience will be considered)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic lean concepts and continuous improvement tools
- Must possess strong written and oral communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences
- Ability to effectively facilitate activities and discussions using a defined process
- Ability to write reports, general business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to create standard work document

- The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas, where, under certain conditions, the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection is required.
